Why does your shoulder hurt when you raise your arm?
Pain when reaching overhead, putting on a shirt, lifting something onto a shelf, or exercising can involve several different structures in and around the shoulder.
Possible contributors include:
✔️ Rotator cuff irritation or injury
✔️ Tendon irritation
✔️ Bursitis
✔️ Restricted shoulder movement
✔️ Repetitive or overhead activities
✔️ Problems involving the neck that refer pain toward the shoulder
And that's exactly why where you feel the pain doesn't always tell us where it's coming from.
At Venn Chiropractic & Wellness Center in Frisco, Texas, we evaluate the shoulder along with related areas such as the neck and upper back to better understand what may be contributing to a patient's symptoms.
When appropriate, an individualized care plan may include the Gonstead Chiropractic Technique, corrective rehabilitation, mobility work, and other recommendations based on the examination findings.
Persistent shoulder pain shouldn't simply be worked through—especially if you're beginning to lose strength or range of motion.
Find out what's contributing to it first.

You don't have to be a professional athlete to put athletic demands on your body.
Whether you compete seriously, play recreational sports, lift weights, run, golf, or simply want to stay active, repetitive training and sudden movements can place significant demands on the muscles and joints.
Athletes commonly deal with:
✔️ Back and neck pain
✔️ Shoulder pain
✔️ Knee pain
✔️ Ankle and foot problems
✔️ Muscle tightness
✔️ Sprains and strains
✔️ Restricted movement or mobility
And sometimes the area that hurts isn't the entire story.
At Venn Chiropractic & Wellness Center in Frisco, Texas, we evaluate how the spine, joints, movement patterns, and surrounding tissues may be contributing to an athlete's symptoms.
Using the Gonstead Chiropractic Technique, corrective rehabilitation, and other therapies when appropriate, care is individualized around the patient's findings, activity, and goals.
Dr. Jason Venn has practiced in Frisco for more than 25 years and understands firsthand how important staying active can be.
Whether your goal is getting back onto the field, into the gym, or simply moving without the problem that keeps slowing you down, start by finding out what's contributing to it.

Have you been told you have degenerative disc disease?
The name can sound intimidating, but degenerative changes in the spinal discs are common as we age—and seeing degeneration on an X-ray or MRI doesn't necessarily tell us how much it is contributing to your symptoms.
When degenerative disc changes are symptomatic, people may experience:
✔️ Lower back or neck pain
✔️ Stiffness, particularly after prolonged sitting
✔️ Pain that changes with different activities or positions
✔️ Reduced flexibility or mobility
✔️ Numbness or tingling if nearby nerves are affected
✔️ Periods when symptoms flare up and then improve
That's why we don't treat an X-ray. We evaluate the person.
At Venn Chiropractic & Wellness Center in Frisco, Texas, we look at your symptoms, examination findings, spinal function, and imaging when appropriate to better understand what may be contributing to your problem.
Depending on those findings, conservative care may include the Gonstead Chiropractic Technique, corrective rehabilitation, and, when appropriate, non-surgical spinal decompression.
Degenerative changes don't automatically mean surgery—and they don't necessarily mean you have to stop doing the activities you enjoy.
The first step is understanding what's actually contributing to your symptoms and what options are appropriate for you.

Does your back or leg pain get worse when you stand or walk—but feel better when you sit down?
That pattern can sometimes occur with lumbar spinal stenosis.
Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of spaces within the spine. Depending on where and how much narrowing occurs, nearby nerves may be affected.
Common symptoms can include:
✔️ Lower back pain
✔️ Pain that travels into the buttocks or legs
✔️ Numbness or tingling in the legs or feet
✔️ Weakness or heaviness in the legs
✔️ Difficulty walking longer distances
✔️ Symptoms that improve when sitting or leaning forward
But having spinal stenosis on an X-ray or MRI doesn't automatically tell us how much it is contributing to your symptoms. The examination and the patient still matter.
At Venn Chiropractic & Wellness Center in Frisco, Texas, we evaluate each case individually to determine what may be contributing to a patient's pain and limitations.
Depending on the findings and whether conservative care is appropriate, treatment may include the Gonstead Chiropractic Technique, corrective rehabilitation, and non-surgical spinal decompression.
If standing or walking has gradually become more difficult because of back or leg symptoms, it may be worth finding out what's causing it and what options are appropriate for you.

25+ Years of Chiropractic Care in Frisco, TX
Meet Dr. Jason Venn, founder of Venn Chiropractic and Wellness Center.
Dr. Venn has been serving the Frisco community since 2000, with a clinical focus on Gonstead chiropractic, spinal decompression, spinal rehabilitation, and the evaluation of complex disc and nerve-related conditions.
Many of the patients we see are dealing with herniated or bulging discs, sciatica, spinal stenosis, pinched nerves, numbness and tingling, neck pain, or chronic lower back pain.
Dr. Venn's approach starts with understanding what may actually be contributing to the problem. Depending on the patient, that may include a detailed examination, orthopedic and neurological testing, spinal analysis, and digital X-rays or review of other imaging when clinically appropriate.
Treatment recommendations are then based on the individual findings—not a one-size-fits-all approach.
We're proud to have called Frisco home for more than 25 years and grateful for the families who have trusted us with their care.

Why does your neck hurt after working at a computer?
If your neck feels stiff, sore, or tired by the end of the workday, your daily habits may be contributing.
Hours spent looking at a computer, working from a laptop, or looking down at a phone can keep your neck in the same position for long periods and increase strain on the muscles and joints of the cervical spine.
Common contributors include:
✔️ Forward head posture
✔️ Prolonged sitting
✔️ Tight neck and shoulder muscles
✔️ Limited movement in the cervical spine
✔️ Frequently looking down at phones or tablets
A few simple changes may help: position your monitor closer to eye level, use a supportive chair, take regular movement breaks, and bring your phone toward your eyes instead of repeatedly dropping your head toward your phone.
But if your neck pain keeps returning, ergonomics may only be part of the picture.
At Venn Chiropractic & Wellness Center in Frisco, Texas, we evaluate the spine, posture, and movement to determine what may be contributing to your symptoms. When appropriate, care may include the Gonstead Chiropractic Technique, corrective rehabilitation, and other recommendations based on your individual findings.
If your neck hurts every day after working at a computer, don't just keep changing chairs. Find out what's contributing to it.

Struggling with lower back pain?
Lower back pain is extremely common—but the reason for it isn't the same for everyone.
Sometimes pain follows lifting, exercise, or an awkward movement. Other times it develops gradually after months or years of sitting, repetitive activities, disc changes, or other problems involving the lower back.
Possible contributors can include:
✔️ Muscle or joint irritation
✔️ Herniated or bulging discs
✔️ Prolonged sitting
✔️ Degenerative changes
✔️ Poor or repetitive movement patterns
✔️ Irritation of a spinal nerve
That's why determining what is contributing to the pain matters.
At Venn Chiropractic & Wellness Center in Frisco, Texas, we've been helping patients in Frisco since 2000. Our approach begins with a detailed evaluation rather than assuming every case of back pain needs the same treatment.
Care may include the Gonstead Chiropractic Technique, corrective rehabilitation, and, when appropriate, non-surgical spinal decompression.
If your lower back pain keeps returning, limits what you can do, or simply isn't improving, it may be time to find out what's behind it.

**What makes Gonstead Chiropractic different?**
Not every chiropractic approach evaluates or adjusts the spine in exactly the same way.
The **Gonstead Chiropractic Technique** uses a detailed system to help identify specific areas of the spine that may not be moving or functioning normally. Rather than approaching every patient with the same routine, the findings of the examination help determine where—and whether—an adjustment is appropriate.
A Gonstead evaluation may include:
✔️ Detailed examination of the spine
✔️ Motion and static palpation
✔️ Postural and structural assessment
✔️ Instrumentation to help evaluate areas of possible inflammation
✔️ Digital X-rays when clinically appropriate
✔️ Specific, targeted adjustments based on the findings
At **Venn Chiropractic & Wellness Center in Frisco, Texas**, Gonstead Chiropractic has been a central part of how we evaluate and care for patients for more than 25 years.
Patients come to us with many different concerns, including back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica and disc-related problems—but the goal isn't to give everyone the same adjustment.
**We want to understand what's happening first. Then determine the appropriate care for that individual patient.**
If you've tried chiropractic before and felt like every visit was exactly the same, the Gonstead approach may feel very different.

**What is spinal decompression—and who is it for?**
If you've been dealing with persistent back pain, sciatica, or a disc problem, you may have heard about **non-surgical spinal decompression**. But what does it actually do?
Spinal decompression uses controlled, gentle traction to stretch the spine. The goal is to reduce pressure on certain spinal structures and provide an environment that may help some patients with disc-related or nerve-related symptoms.
Depending on the individual diagnosis, spinal decompression may be considered for conditions such as:
✔️ Herniated or bulging discs
✔️ Sciatica and certain types of leg pain
✔️ Degenerative disc problems
✔️ Some cases of chronic lower back or neck pain
But spinal decompression isn't appropriate for everyone—which is why the evaluation comes first.
At **Venn Chiropractic & Wellness Center in Frisco, Texas**, we first work to determine what's contributing to your symptoms. When appropriate, spinal decompression may be incorporated into an individualized care plan alongside the **Gonstead Chiropractic Technique** and other recommendations based on your examination.
The goal isn't simply to chase where it hurts. It's to understand what's causing the problem and determine the appropriate approach for you.

**Could poor posture be contributing to your neck or back pain?**
The positions we spend hours in every day can matter.
Long periods at a desk, looking down at a phone, repetitive activities, and certain movement habits can place additional stress on the muscles and joints of the neck and back.
You may notice:
✔️ Neck pain or stiffness after working at a computer
✔️ Tight or sore shoulders
✔️ Lower back discomfort after prolonged sitting
✔️ Symptoms that change with different positions or activities
But posture isn't always the entire explanation for pain. That's why simply being told to “sit up straight” may not solve the problem.
At **Venn Chiropractic & Wellness Center in Frisco, Texas**, we evaluate how the spine, joints, movement patterns, and surrounding tissues may be contributing to a patient's symptoms.
Using the **Gonstead Chiropractic Technique**, care is individualized based on the findings of the examination. Corrective exercises and other therapies may also be recommended when appropriate.
If your neck or back consistently bothers you after sitting, working, driving, or looking down at your phone, finding out what's contributing to it is a good place to start.
