The AE error in an LG washing machine means the machine has detected a water leak and activated the flood protection system.

Causes:

Water leaking inside the machine base

Loose or damaged inlet/drain hoses

Leaking door seal or soap drawer

Excessive detergent creating foam that trips the sensor

Internal component failure (valve, tub, or pump housing crack)

Quick Fix Steps:

1. Turn off & unplug the machine immediately.


2. Close the water supply.


3. Disconnect hoses to avoid more leakage.


4. Tilt the machine backward so any collected water in the base drains out.


5. Reconnect hoses & power, then test a short cycle.

If the error continues:

Check for leaks at hose joints, drain pump, or door seal.

Ensure proper detergent use (too much soap can trigger AE).

If leaks are not visible, the issue may be with the internal tub, pump, or sensor, which usually requires professional service.
