It's me, Mishal. Basically, I'm a gamer. Any game is fine with me. One of my favorite games is Pubg & Mobile Legends. I'm also a content creator, so I love to create videos about gaming. Hopefully you'll enjoy my gaming videos.
Lelouch vi Britannia (Code Geass) has one of the strongest cases for greatest anime MC ever, and it's not just fan hype — a few things back it up:
He's a legitimate strategist, not a plot-armored genius. His plans (the Zero Requiem especially) operate on multiple layers of deception, sacrifice, and long-term payoff that most "genius" protagonists never attempt. He loses constantly and adapts — Euphemia's death, Shirley's death, betrayals from his own inner circle — and still recalibrates the entire plan.
Moral complexity that never resolves into "good guy." He commits genocide-adjacent acts, manipulates his closest friends, and kills without flinching — yet the narrative never lets you fully hate him because his motive (avenging his mother, protecting Nunnally, ending a world built on power hierarchies) stays sympathetic. Few MCs walk that tightrope for 50 episodes straight.
The ending is the argument. Zero Requiem — engineering his own assassination to unite the world against a common enemy (himself) — is one of the most calculated self-sacrifices in fiction. It's not a redemption arc; it's a "I will be the villain the world needs so peace can exist" arc, which is a rarer, harder story to land.
Cultural staying power. 15+ years later, Lelouch is still a top-tier meme, cosplay, and "who would win" debate subject, which says something about how well the character was built to be iconic.
If someone pushes back, the usual counters are Light Yagami (similar genius-manipulator archetype but arguably less sympathetic/self-aware) or Guts/Edward Elric (different genre of "best MC" — endurance and growth rather than strategic sacrifice). But for sheer narrative construction and payoff, Lelouch's case is hard to beat.
