this time I send you the new images and some data.

Yesterday and today nobody was in hide at fish basket (I was in other place, for trapping eagles). So Heron did have good possibility to establish himself at basket. Tibu and 7202 were feeding other times.

But they got enough food throughout of day. Finally, overnight height is higher as height of feeding location. That means Tibu spent night on tree, more as 10m above the ground level. 7202 we observed visually on tree, but there is no visual observation of Tibu from tree, yet. After Tibu arrived, 7202 did not visit home nest any more. They got familiar to each other by now. Tibu teaches 7202 to step into fish basket, for example. In some photos Tibu looks of same size as 7202.

When they start migration? Maybe after few days, but we need to suspend feeding for that purpose, probably.

I hope tomorrow somebody could stay in hide near there and slightly regulate herons visits. Also then we will have more knowledge about juvenile behaviour, their skills, etc.

News about our Single Black Stork Tibu. He is today 72 days old. He is together with an older Storklet from another nest.

This early morning we went together with Taavi to release Kergu Tibu at fish basket. Taavi stays in hide near the basket, and is there up to now. Tibu is still a bit young for independent life, but has to. One local juvenile (7202) is also there, they conquer a bit, but both are frightened away from the basket by Grey Heron.
Somehow Taavi managed to get rid of heron, but now both juvenile storks are digesting and simply stand on ground.
We will see how we can manage there, for Tibu at least one week is needed to fledge, to be independent.

days later he informed LK:
By now it works, but not everything is possible to control there. Conditions are semi-natural, juveniles are free to fly,
but they can come and feed in the fish basket, as well as feel 'company' of adult plastic storks there
(one of the adult statues has been knocked over by juveniles, asking for food)

Some images of our youngster in the woodland below the tower. I watched her fly from one tree to another – I think I probably disturbed her – and she took off again, but I was able to snap a few shots.

Girri was flying from one of the dead roost trees at noon today to some trees near some abandoned cottages and I was lucky enough to get a quick clip of her in flight. My companion, Helen, is a volunteer who helps out with the plant propagation, which we had just finished.

As everyone knows, I am very interested in black storks and their behavior. You can also see it in the amount of videos I've uploaded 😂. I have also been active in a forum since 2015 and have documented the events at the nests on a daily basis.

I was asked if I would take part in a study. It is about Filial cannibalism in the Black Stork (Ciconia nigra). Since I documented many of these events, it wasn't work for me.

Filial and sibling cannibalism have never been documented in Black Storks (Ciconia nigra). We gathered information on 34 breeding events in 10 Black Stork nests from Estonia (three nests), Hungary (two nests), Poland (two nests) and Spain (three nests) being monitored with camera surveillance, live streaming webcams or intensive monitoring control of nests. Overall, we recorded 16 cases of filial infanticide and two cases where the nestlings died by natural causes and were later cannibalized by either their siblings or their parents......
