DC Kathua visits Old Age Home, Assures better care and facilities
Distributes essential items; announces special health camp for senior citizens
Kathua, September 25: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today visited the Old Age Home Kathua and interacted with the elderly residents, enquiring about their well-being and the facilities being provided to them.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner distributed blankets, bed sheets and track suits among the inmates as part of the administration’s efforts to ensure their comfort and well-being. A treadmill was also provided at the Old Age Home to promote physical activity and healthy living among the residents.
The Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma interacted with the elderly residents and listened to their concerns and suggestions regarding healthcare, living facilities and other requirements. He assured that the District Administration would extend all possible support for improving the overall facilities and ensuring a comfortable and dignified living environment for the inmates.
The DC informed that a special health camp will also be organised at the Old Age Home at the earliest to facilitate health check-ups and medical consultation for the residents. He directed the concerned officers to ensure necessary arrangements and to remain attentive to the day-to-day needs of the elderly.
The DC Kathua emphasized that the welfare of senior citizens remains an important priority of the District Administration and called for coordinated efforts by all concerned departments to provide better care, healthcare support and essential amenities to the residents.
Chief Planning Officer Kathua Ranjeet Thakur and District Social Welfare Officer Kathua Varun Chaudhary, TSWO Vishav Bandhu Sharma were also present during the visit.

Tightening the noose of bovine smugglers within the district, J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of *SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma IPS* rescued a total of 15 bovines at Lakhanpur area and seized 01 Truck involved.
On dated 24.09.2026 a police team led by *SHO PS Lakhanpur* under the supervision of *Addl. SP Kathua & DySP DAR Kathua* during naka/ checking at NHW Lakhanpur noticed the movement of one suspicious vehicle ( Truck) bearing Registration No. JK14E-0854 which was being driven by an unknown person enrouted from Punjab towards J&K UT was signalled to stop for checking.On seeing police team driver of the vehicle stopped the vehicle few metres away from Naka Point and managed to fled away.During checking of the said vehicle, 15 bovines were found loaded in the vehicle mercilessly which were rescued and seized 01 vehicle involved. On this, *FIR No. 130/2026 U/S 223/BNS, 11/PCA act was registered at PS Lakhanpur* and further investigation into this matter has been set into motion.

बसोहली, 16 सितंबर: बसोहली विधानसभा क्षेत्र के विधायक ठाकुर दर्शन सिंह ने आज क्रोला मोड़ से घरती तक PMGSY सड़क का उद्घाटन किया। इस सड़क की लंबाई 5.5 किलोमीटर है, जबकि इसकी लागत ₹1,273.77 लाख है।
सड़क के उद्घाटन के अवसर पर स्थानीय लोगों में खुशी और उत्साह देखने को मिला। क्षेत्रवासियों ने विधायक के प्रति आभार व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि इस महत्वपूर्ण सड़क के निर्माण से उन्हें आवागमन में सुविधा मिलेगी। स्थानीय लोगों ने अपनी खुशी जाहिर करते हुए कहा कि वे अपनी भावनाओं को शब्दों में व्यक्त नहीं कर सकते।

DC Kathua reviews Telecom infrastructure progress, Calls for expedited resolution of bottlenecks
Kathua, September 10: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today chaired a meeting of the District Telecom Committee to review the progress of telecom infrastructure and connectivity initiatives in the district.
At the outset, comprehensive discussions were held on land allotment, CAT V/VI/VII cases, electricity connections to mobile towers, telecom services in border villages, 5G street furniture, Amended BharatNet (ABN), CBUD implementation and Samridh Gram Panchayat initiatives.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to adopt a proactive, coordinated and time-bound approach towards resolving pending issues and removing procedural bottlenecks. He stressed that seamless inter-departmental coordination is essential for timely execution of telecom infrastructure projects and strengthening reliable telecom connectivity and digital services, particularly in the border and rural areas of the district.
The DC directed the Forest Department to expedite clearance of all pending cases pertaining to the Telecom Department to ensure that telecom infrastructure works are not delayed.
He further instructed the Telecom Department to obtain prior permission from the concerned development agency before undertaking any telecom-related work, besides ensuring adherence to prescribed procedures and proper coordination with the concerned agencies.
The meeting also reviewed the status of pending matters and emphasized their expeditious disposal to facilitate better telecom connectivity and effective implementation of ongoing initiatives.
Among others, ADDC Kathua, ADC Kathua, Mahima Madan, ADC Basohli Vishavjeet Singh, ACD Kathua, XEN PWD, XEN PDD, XEN PHE and representatives of the Telecom Department attended the meeting.

DC Kathua chairs Sponsorship Foster Approval committee meeting
Committee recommends support for 569 Children
Kathua, September 10: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma, Chairman of the Sponsorship Foster Approval Committee (SFAC), today chaired a meeting of the committee to review cases under the Mission Vatsalya initiative.
During the meeting, the committee recommended sponsorship support for 569 eligible children belonging to vulnerable categories, including orphans, children of single parents and specially-abled children.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need to ensure timely assistance to all eligible children and effective implementation of welfare schemes aimed at supporting their education, care, protection and overall well-being.
The DC called for close monitoring of the cases to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive the intended support without delay.

DC Kathua reviews Bank performance at DLRC/DCC Meeting, Sets 60% CD Ratio Target
Directs banks to expedite loan disbursal, enhance credit flow and strengthen financial inclusion
Kathua, September 10: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today chaired the District Level Review Committee (DLRC)/District Consultative Committee (DCC) meeting for the quarter ending June 2026 to review banking performance and credit flow in the district.
At the outset DC Kathua reviewed the progress under CD Ratio, KCC, PMEGP, NRLM SHGs, PMMY and other credit-linked schemes. Taking note of the present CD Ratio of 52.03%, he directed banks to prepare bank-specific action plans and raise it to at least 60% by the end of the financial year.
Deputy Commissioner Kathua called for speedy disposal and disbursal of sponsored loan cases, enhanced awareness of credit-linked schemes and wider financial inclusion under social security schemes.
The DC directed banks and line departments to work in close coordination and adopt a result-oriented approach to strengthen credit delivery and accelerate economic activity in the district.
LDO RBI stressed strengthening banking facilities at unbanked rural centres and activation of inactive BCs/CSPs, while DDM NABARD highlighted initiatives including AIF, AMI, e-NWR financing and other measures to boost agricultural and allied activities.
The meeting was attended by LDO RBI Amandeep Singh, DDM NABARD Nipun Sharma, SBI LDM Kathua Aman Jasrotia, senior bank officials and representatives of concerned departments.
