🚢 **Our first Carnival cruise video is LIVE!**

We've never particularly wanted to cruise with Carnival, and a three-night cruise wasn't exactly on our wish list either! 😂

So, with fairly low expectations, we boarded Carnival Splendor in Sydney to see whether it might surprise us.

Come along for embarkation day, our first impressions, a tour of our balcony cabin, and a beautiful sailaway from Sydney Harbour.

🛳️ We’re going LIVE from Carnival Splendor this weekend!

We’re heading off on our first-ever Carnival cruise, and we’re planning to jump on for a relaxed chat sometime Saturday afternoon.

By then, we’ll have had about 24 hours onboard, so we’ll have some first impressions to share!

🚐 12 months with Connie!

It’s been a year since we bought our then 20-year-old caravan, and we’ve certainly learnt a few things along the way.

🚢 Well, we said we weren’t really interested in three-night cruises… and yet here we are. 😂

Next week Phil and I are boarding Carnival Splendor for a 3-night cruise out of Sydney — our first ever Carnival cruise.

Carnival hasn’t been a cruise line we’ve really considered before, and I’ve always struggled a little with the idea of a cruise to nowhere. I used to see the ship mainly as a floating hotel taking us somewhere.

But after a few more cruises, I’m starting to appreciate just how much the ship itself can be part of the experience.

So we’re giving it a go!

And since Carnival is now such a big part of the year-round cruising options here in Australia, we’re curious to see what it’s actually like — particularly for a couple in their 50s.

After years together, it can be very easy to think you already know everything about each other.

But people keep changing.

We have new experiences, new interests, different worries, things we’re looking forward to and sometimes completely random thoughts that the person beside us knows nothing about.

There’s something valuable in continuing to be curious about the person you married rather than assuming you already know all their answers.

So here’s a little campfire question for today:

What’s something your partner has become interested in recently? Have you taken the time to ask them about it?

Some days travelling with Connie looks like beautiful campsites, cups of tea and watching the sun go down.

Other days it’s levelling the caravan, moving things around for the fifth time and asking each other, “Where did we put that?” 😂

Both, apparently, are van life.
