Iām waving a white flag and Iām thriving!
I was awake at 4 am headed to Sussex at 5 and went to church to sing and lead a childrenās time and back to Queens where there was far too much traffic on a Sunday afternoon.
The thought of walking right now? No.
AND I have an awesome plan for tomorrow!!! So excited!
āSeeā you then!
Hugs,
Julie

Sometimes I think I just have too much fun - how is it possible for an old lady like me to still be having this much fun, thriving and goaling with my friends.
In #Thrivetober country - oh āŖ@Mrs.PaulaDoesRetirement⬠and āŖ@KobasCatTails⬠I am having far too much of a good time in the Great Autumn/Fall Write In. We had a great time today and I learned about who is daring about trying new and unique foods (and more things) and on the Road to 65 walk, I got into hi-jinx I wouldn't have dreamed off two months ago as we explored the Messy Middle.
I came home and helped a YouTube friend learn a bit more about editing and I used a clip I had made earlier in the day and we were both giggling like a couple high school girls.
AND THEN I watched a video from āŖ@Life_with_Javada⬠and she hugged a GLORIOUS tree in my honor - and she was wearing a PINK TOP!
I am going to go to sleep with a BIG smile on my face.
My eyes are barely staying open right now so sleep will come easy for sure!
See y'all tomorrow!
PS The image is long ago me sitting against the palm tree in my Bakersfield Front Yard. I was hugging trees before I knew how significant it would become to me!

Hello one and all Thriving and Goaling it up in October!
My definite moment of thriving started last night when I thought, āJulie, go easy on yourself. Take that long form YouTube generated not-short from your Mary Oliver livestream which somehow turned into a story of me being on a music video that now has more than many million views ⦠that are not about me but there I am! In my goodwill costume, running barefoot in my fabulous form of more than ten years ago.
You can hear the story of it now in the video I shared and was published today at 6 am. LOL.
Yesterday @CarolAnneShaw said she wanted to know about this experience so I had to post my story as told on a walk to a bunch of unsuspecting people who just wanted to support a fat old lady walking and enjoying poetry.
This is definitely thriving in some strange way?
I love this thumbnail. I hope you will pop by and listen to the story - it is purely⦠well. It is so me.
Thanks again to Paula āŖ@Mrs.PaulaDoesRetirement⬠and Tracie āŖ@KobasCatTails⬠for hosting #Thrivetober. It has been a lot of fun to post about it almost every day here on my community page!

I have been a busy bee these last few days, thriving and goaling without reporting.
Iāve also been grumpy, reconnected with my mom by drinking her favorite flavor milkshake, and thoroughly enjoying Fall Foliage.
Today my Thriving includes:
Starting my Journaling āWrite-Insā at Noon Eastern Time⦠scary and exciting all at once⦠and I am aiming to post my āLate Bloomerās Stageā about theater life after 40 video before 11 am.
I find myself feeling getting stuck in the āoh, no, I am posting too much and everything will fail as a result!ā so I am going to unabashedly ask for help in getting over that fear.
Simply kind words because tomorrow, I want to post my regular Word-Love Writing post because⦠my writing life has been so rich lately, I want to really sustain that habit AND I also NEED to do my Semi-Finalist drawing for Fall Fest - it will mean two days in a row of sharing a LOT of content.
Sometimes I think my efforts in the #raceto4k have made me much more anxious about āgetting it rightā and I need to move back into HAVING FUN which for me often means making things⦠including video.
I appreciate you reading and listening.
I also wonder if it was the photo of the artful milkshake or the beautiful sunset that brought you here today?
Happy #Thrivetober - and thanks again to Paula āŖ@Mrs.PaulaDoesRetirement⬠and Tracie āŖ@KobasCatTails⬠for continuing to inspire us to grow and also a quick nod to Mary āŖ@Blessed2Crochet⬠who reminds me of my 2027 Goals⦠which have been focusing on during #Goaltober. Such a difference from being intentional ahead of the hectic holiday rush!

Julie Jordan Scott: Aging Joyfully
From this morning's final installment of "Walk and Write Like Mary Oliver" livestream, I read one of her most popular poems that outlines a lot of how I (do my best) to live my life.
How I want to emulate Thriving and by association, notice the world and live accordingly during this #Thrivetober initiative started by Paul āŖ@Mrs.PaulaDoesRetirement⬠and Tracie āŖ@KobasCatTailsā¬
Less than twenty minutes ago, my eyes kept filling with tears as I read the poem aloud - and some people were trollish and I hope those who are my regular, incredible friends and feel-like-family folks who watch my videos... enjoy the words at least as much as I do and possibly even more.
This stanza speaks to me right now:
When it's over, I want to say: all my life
I was a bride married to amazement.
I was the bridegroom, taking the world into my arms.
Yesterday as sunset approached I took a walk at Kittatiny Valley State Park in Andover, NJ. I walked on a trail I have always wanted to walk but for whatever reason - made me feel anxious possibly because I didn't know where it was going? I let fear win over the curiosity that is usually flows into and out of my heart quite fluidly.
Walking - and making walking videos - has opened up that flow and yesterday, I walked out "alone" and walked back "with the live crew" - and it was marvelous, all the way.
Daylight is getting shorter and instead of lamenting the shorter days, I am amazed how light returns daily. How technology has made it easier to take the world lovingly into my experience (my arms) and how if I am blessed, may bring joy to more people tomorrow than I do today.
All this emotion I am feeling and in an hour I will be singing "Amazing Grace" in two versions. Eeep!
Much love and gratitude for each and all who take the time to read these words, watch my videos, as we thrive alongside each other.

āļøš§ļøāļøš¦ļø Mary would like us to walk & write outdoors - and today⦠that wouldnāt work SO weāre delayed until tomorrow.
Road to 65 will be rain or shine today -
In the meantime, my son-in-law is doing a 12 hour run (!!!) so Iām doing some special activities with a three-year-old.
She was in my room at 5:30 saying she wanted to go to her favorite diner for breakfast!

This is a different sort of #Thrivetober post. The event actually took place yesterday but the genesis was about a month or so ago.Ā
I started planning for my road to 65 series sometime in June I believe. Iām one of those rare people whoās excited to turn 65 not because of Medicare or conventional retirement or anything like that, instead, Iām celebrating the joy of being alive, because there are several times I might have died and did not.Ā
Iām excited to be able to age joyfully.Ā
One Saturday night when I was living it up and taking a walk with my road to 65 friends when I had a coughing attack⦠while live-streaming.Ā
I experience such moments of extreme coughing to the point where I become physically ill at times somewhat regularly, but this was bad for numerous reasons.Ā
Last night, I went back to the same spot on another walk and I did not cough at all! The point of the walk was for my own selfish desire to acknowledge the previous event and allow myself the space to heal any possible, lingering shame, or embarrassment or discomfort.Ā
Well, I did not cough at all, but the conversation was as healing as the walk and as the tree hugs were.Ā
Iām also Incredibly grateful to Paula āŖ@Mrs.PaulaDoesRetirement⬠and āŖ@KobasCatTails⬠Tracie for giving us a context to report in on situations like this: moments in time in our day when we experience thriving.Ā
Sometimes healing is quiet and almost goes unnoticed. In this case, Iām glad to bring it out, into the light.Ā
