A cool 65-degree morning, a little much-needed rain, and a beautiful start to the day here in Guymon.
After a wonderful evening at Fiesta Guymon, I’m spending some more time in the community today, visiting with local leaders and listening to the people who call the Oklahoma Panhandle home.
Walking along Main Street this morning, I was especially struck by the flags and photographs honoring service members from generations past. They are powerful reminders of the service and sacrifice woven into the history of communities across Oklahoma.
I’ve also been impressed by the incredible diversity and hospitality of Guymon. This is a community with a story worth telling, and I’m grateful for the welcome I’ve received.
And after the drought we’ve been experiencing, those puddles and raindrops sure look good this morning.
What Does Oklahoma’s Labor Commissioner Actually Do? | The Will Rogers Experiment
Yesterday, I joined Sean Cummings and Kit Fairchild on The Will Rogers Experiment for a wide-ranging conversation about my campaign for Oklahoma Commissioner of Labor and, just as importantly, what the Oklahoma Department of Labor actually does.
We talked about wage protection, workplace safety, PIOSH and OSHA, the responsibilities of the Labor Commissioner, technology and AI, the resources available to the Department, and the experience it takes to lead an agency responsible for Oklahoma workers and employers.
We also talked about what I’m hearing as I travel across Oklahoma and why this statewide race matters.
This wasn’t a stump speech. It was a real conversation with two people who know Oklahoma, ask good questions, and aren’t afraid to follow the conversation wherever it goes.
I appreciate Sean and Kit giving me the opportunity to talk about the job, my campaign, and why I believe experience matters when choosing Oklahoma’s next Commissioner of Labor.
