HISTORY TEASER: Ngaoundéré, Cameroon (1915-1918).
We stumbled upon this incredibly rare and rich historical photograph from Ngaoundéré, Cameroon, taken during the German colonial period and the subsequent fighting in World War I.
Look closely at the detail: the powerful presence of the local leadership, the traditional case (huts) with their huge thatched roofs, and the atmosphere of a meeting on the grand village square.
We are thinking of doing a short video diving into the history of Cameroon during the Great War, exploring:
The battle for Kamerun.
The roles and experiences of the local people (like those pictured).
The eventual partition of the territory.
Question for the Community: Would you like to see a video breaking down the complex story behind this image and the WWI campaign in Cameroon? Let us know in the comments: YES or NO! 👇
