explore the scowenburg valley.
take shelter in the trunk and wait out the storm.

my name is andrei, and i live near the 1000-year-old schaumburg castle (historically known as scowenburg). this area is a place of power for me, and this channel is my way of sharing the quiet beauty of the castle's surrounding valley and the weser river.

in real life, i am a professional cinematographer and a father. every field recording you see here is made together with my daughter, aurelia. she is 1.5 years old and growing fast. you can see how we make these videos in the community tab and backstage posts.

this channel is a 100% ai-free zone. all visuals and audio are authentic. building a real safe space against synthetic content.

gear used:
camera: blackmagic cinema camera 6k ff
mics: rode m5 paired
postproduction: davinci resolve

if you value real field recordings, you are welcome to stay.

scowenburg

i was asked why my channel is called scowenburg.

i live in the weser river valley among the mountains, not far from the thousand-year-old schaumburg castle (historical name scowenburg). it is clearly visible from my terrace (the last photo).

it is a magical place with a rich history, and i love walking up to it. the road there goes over the mountain and is very old, dating back to the middle ages. it's a very unusual feeling to walk along it and realize that 500 years ago merchants with carts or messengers rode horses along this mountain road to the castle, which i am also walking to now after all this time.

schaumburg castle sits on the nesselberg mountain, and in cloudy weather, it is very often hidden behind the clouds. my photos show how different it can be in different weather.

initially, my idea was to film only the castle, in different weather and seasons, from different angles. the main rule: the castle or a part of it had to be in the frame.
i had a strict condition for myself: everything must be as natural as possible, only original sound, only long multi-hour recordings, beautiful color grading.

but as i began exploring viewpoints, i quickly realized there weren't that many. i made a few videos and published them (they are at the very bottom of my channel), and realized i was starting to repeat locations.

i took a short break to figure out what to do next. my channel was very small, 10 subscribers, so i didn't have much to lose. but i was sure i needed to keep developing it.

during another walk to the castle with my daughter, i realized i wanted to expand the lore. to show not only the castle, but the entire weser river valley below it. after thinking more, i realized that the theme of taking shelter resonates strongly with me, since i really love rainy weather and storms.

what has remained unchanged since the creation of the channel is the complete rejection of ai and only original recordings, made by me together with my daughter.

thank you for watching my videos.

scowenburg

during this shoot, my daughter discovered collecting stones on a freshly plowed field for the first time.

my main concern on every shoot is not framing a beautiful shot or recording good sound. i am a professional cinematographer and i know how to do that.

what is really difficult is finding entertainment for my 1.5-year-old daughter during the shoot. she is very active, interested in everything, and of course not ready to sit still in the car for an hour. so we always walk around outside while the camera records the storm from the trunk.

that time i was lucky. she was collecting pebbles on the field and bringing them to me. even though we were near the car, she did it quietly because she was so engaged, so i was still able to record a clean soundscape.

the sky was a very beautiful color and felt very low. the road went up to the top of the hill and seemed to run straight into the sky.
