Learn the craft AND the business of film scoring.
I'm Tommy Arnold, a film and TV composer. In the past three years, my films have played at over 20 film festivals and aired on public television and streaming services, and I regularly work with music libraries, landing placements in ads and TV.
I teach aspiring film composers how to write for picture, get hired, price their work, and build a real career in the film industry without spending a fortune on school.

Your sample library isn't why your strings sound fake.
It's usually this: the notes never move. Real players are always swelling or fading, even on a "held" note. So before you buy another library, try one thing on your next cue: record the mod wheel (CC1) on every sustained line, and never let it sit flat for more than a bar.
That one habit does more for realism than any plugin I own.
It's one of the techniques in Virtual Orchestration, my guide to writing realistic orchestral music with sample libraries. It's normally $39.95, but for a limited time it's name your price, $1 and up.

Low brass + rising strings + sudden cut to silence = psychological terror.
But the real magic is in the TIMING.
Most composers hit the stab too early.
Hold it one beat longer than feels comfortable.
Trust the discomfort. ๐บ๐ป

Clear harmony, clear rhythm, clear intent will beat clever ideas every time โ especially when music has to support a scene, not steal it. Clarity is what directors and listeners actually respond to.
