I'm Evelyne, freelance illustrator for fantasy games and books, and I'm posting my own art practice journey as I try to get better at anything and everything, from portraits to landscapes, charcoal to oil pastels. I also enjoy going very much in-depth in my art material reviews...
Painting mostly in acrylics and watercolors - and nowadays gouache - with the occasional digital sketch and lots of oil pastels.

HAPPY FOUNTAIN PEN DAY! I got a tiny Midori MD notebook (A7!) and use it for ink "swatches" that are drawings. I like to know how an ink looks in actual lineart, how shading or shimmer shows up... I think that's more helpful for my art than larger swatches. :)
Here we have Sailor Shikiori "Yuki Usagi" (Snow Rabbit) which was the first ink I bought after that initial Wearingeul haul.
Both Graf von Faber-Castell "Lapislazuli" and Colorverse "Gyeyujeongnan" are samples. Love that specific blue tone, and the red shimmer in Gyeyujeongnan is so dramatic and matches the theme of the historical event it represents. Very difficult to read though, more of an art ink!

There're multiple postcards this month for Members/Patrons, because I really couldn't pick just one favourite. 🥰 So, a golden-bronze colour postcard with the dagger hilt and sheath (and a phoenix hairpin on the back) and a teal Celadon incense burner postcard. There's also a little sticker!
The large art print for the Blue Dragon tier over on Patreon has all of my Week 1 drawings arranged nearly exactly how they're in my sketchbook.

Just a quick update: There's a taifun passing through the area, so I couldn't record any voiceovers for a video this weekend. (it's quite noisy!)
I'm now done with week 3 of my Inktober project, which was all about architecture, and can't wait to share that with you, too - because it's time for waterproof ink samples and watercolours! :D

With the Bioware announcement today 💔 I wanted to share some of my (very recent, and some older) fanart for Dragon Age in particular. What a loss for the gaming world, but I hope the fandom will stay just as vibrant.
(Literally just drew those DA:I tarot studies in oil pastels a few weeks ago on a whim, and the portrait during an ink test... so DA has been on my mind, apparently!)

The visual library project in progress... week 2 was so much fun, with all the historical clothing research I got to do on the side. 🧡
Now I've just wrapped up week 3, getting ready for the final stretch! I might post a mixed media art vlog in-between all these ink sketch videos so you all don't get sick of them 😊 I'm just a bit obsessed!

The Lennon Tool Bar ink "Huo Jiang" was perfect for this Binyeo drawing!
There's a lot of shimmer in this one, so I used a Kakuno <M> nib for it - it's been in that pen for a couple weeks now (already on my third refill now, as I seem to get used to having a specific ink in a specific pen... anyone else like that or do you switch it up more often?) and there's not been any clogging yet!
I've completed week one of my personal Inktober project and will share those sketches and a looong art vlog to go with them here soon! 💖
