It's alive!!! My book is officially alive, and also a Live? Details about a live are below so keep reading.

First of all my book "Learn to Watercolor Adorable Animals" by Lacey Walker is officially out! You can get it through any of your favorite book sellers (ex - Barnes & Noble, Bookshop.org, Amazon, or request your local book store to order it)! If you love the book I would so appreciate it if you'd leave me a review through wherever you purchased it from. Also, if you paint anything from the book please tag me in it, it would make my day to see it!

We are going to be doing a YouTube Live to celebrate the book on October 24th at 10AM Mountain Time. Lately, I have been trying to be extra mindful in noticing the bits of beauty around me. Whether it has been a mushroom growing in a cute location, flowers my neighbors have given me, or weird little bugs I swear I’ve never seen before (consensus on that little guy seems to be that he’s a bee fly!), I have appreciated these little moments of joy and wonder. I’d love to hear about little things you’ve seen that have brought *you* joy and if you can’t think of anything, I’d challenge you to take a look around you next time you’re able to take a stroll.

PS I know in-person events are often something people ask about, and I’m happy to share that I will be part of a watercolor retreat in a region I often find lots of inspiration from whenever I visit- Sedona, AZ! In so many of the paintings I love, I often find that there are little details that I’m drawn to and am able to appreciate on their own. From my video the other day, I used Golden acrylic paints and a bunch of Tri-Art acrylic mediums, sometimes using a few of them together until the vibe felt right. I really love how it turned out in the end and wanted to share some of my favorite parts of it. I hope you are encouraged to both give yourself permission to try something again AND to take the time to appreciate some of the smaller details in your own art.

🎨🖌️We’re about halfway through World Watercolor Month and I’ve loved hearing about all of your lightbulb moments in the comments!

July is also Disability Pride Month and I know for some due to age, illness, or otherwise that painting can be difficult. There are some devices that can help ease some difficulties. You can find a variety of grips that can help how you hold the brush, weighted holders to help the brush stay more steady, or even leaning bridges if you’re finding you’re dragging your hand in paint often or if resting your hand on the paper is uncomfortable or results in resistant areas from the oils on your hand.

I can’t believe it. In about 3 months my next book will be out and you all will be able to paint some more adorable animals with me, including Paolo the platypus, Heather the Highland cow, and of course we needed Preston- the pufferfish that started this all!
