When I started filming the final part to Earl’s story, it became apparent that things were not going to go to plan. I became worried because deep in my heart I wanted a very specific ending, and even though things didn't work out, reading through your comments has been incredibly moving, because no matter what happened to Earl, it was important that her true story was told.

Thank you for appreciating the reality of nature and for the kind words about how Earl, Toejam, Tom Selleck, and David Seaman changed the perspective for many of you, on these tiny creatures (the comical names and serious tone of this message is not lost on me).

I’m getting married next month, then moving house fairly swiftly after, with a potential honeymoon in-between… so the next video will land in September! It's about a rice paddy ecosystem (where I grow actual rice in an aquarium) and I have some shots I believe have never been captured before...

On a separate note, thank you for watching these videos. 2 years ago I made the decision to slowly step away from short form content, because I think it's pretty bad for us, but that topic is for another day, and seeing things slowly take an upwards turn on YouTube has been reassuring because I know that I made the right decision.

I can't quite believe it...

I created a fundraiser on my Harvest Mouse video, with the hope that we could raise a little bit of money towards Harvest Mouse conservation.

WELL, with your help, we have managed to raise enough money to feed the harvest mice colonies at Ealing Wildlife Group for 13 years! THIRTEEN YEARS!!!

Ealing Wildlife Group is entirely volunteer led, and through their efforts, over 3000 Harvest Mice have been successfully reintroduced into the wild.

I bumped into the ‪@BlackmagicDesignOfficial‬ at CreatorFest last year, and for the past few months I’ve been testing their Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K in my video work.

I was hesitant to switch from my old camera because, truthfully, I’m not really a 'camera person', and it took me a while to get used to it, but after spending a few months with the PCC6K, I’m glad I made the jump.

Here are a few things I’ve appreciated so far:

Being able to record directly onto an SSD!

The picture quality is excellent. The files can be big, but you can easily adjust the settings to manage that.

It handles low light situations really well, which has been useful when I need to quickly grab footage.

The 5 inch screen is great. I don’t have to squint at a tiny screen anymore.

The Super 35 sensor gives a really nice cinematic look to the footage.

The built in ND filter is very helpful.

The colour straight out of the camera feels natural. Skin tones in particular tend to look good without loads of grading.

I’ve especially enjoyed using the camera with my macro lenses. It’s a clear jump up from my previous set up.

Still learning plenty, but it’s been fun getting to grips with it. I'm pleased I made the switch, and a big thank you to the Blackmagic team for letting me put the camera through its paces!
