This small hobby is all about the capturing, encoding and uploading of hidden and forgotten gems; from Tape Based Media, obsolete stuff and things that might be of some sort of interest; the sort of thing most people would throw straight into the recycling when cleaning out the garage; if this is the sort of thing you find interesting; a very warm welcome to you!

Preservationists! Stay safe out there. I had my first 240 shock today cleaning the heads (still plugged in) done it a million times before but today I got caught out! It was on the audio head so it’s possible it wasnt actually 240v at that point. It didn’t really hurt. It was just unpleasant. But yes. Don’t be sloppy!

Managed to get myself a cheap Panasonic SuperDrive! Is thats nice. Hopefully it will help improve my uploads. I shall probably see if I can get my faithful 00s Hitatchi serviced as it’s having problems with its SCART connections.
But here’s the thing. Ive been trying to ingest an American VHS for upload. It comes out of my current backup Grundig Deck squeaky clean. And through the Capture Card fine. But when I switch on my Sony HDX TBC which is needed; it introduces lines to the output?! Even if I play with the menu! Anyone got any idea please?
