Hello mes amis! Sam here. I have a little life update to share!
Who would have thunk that tapping into my French roots while driving through Saint-Louis-du-Ha! Ha! on my way to a family vacation in New Brunswick would go viral and lead me down a new path? (say that ten times fast!)
The last couple of months have been pretty wild. On a whim, I used my worst Québécois accent and made videos for my personal socials. They took OFF and suddenly new opportunities started coming my way.
It's been surreal getting recognized for this stuff. I was just in Portugal on vacation and got recognized THREE times. That was insane. And apparently a few of you here now know me as “the Québécois guy.” 😂
I don't want to miss the chance to ride this wave, so I'm taking a chance on myself to see where it all goes. That means you might notice a teeny bit less of me on Street Cents. I'm definitely still around. This is NOT goodbye. I literally taped two fun stories with Hannah this week!
Street Cents has been a huge part of my life. I get to make ridiculous things with people I love working with and somehow call all of this work?!
I'm also excited/scared/curious to see where this new wind takes me. 🤓 Keep being amazing, Team Street Cents ❤️

🫶 Hey hey hey! Hannah here! I cannot believe it's the end of July?! This month absolutely flew by. 😭 What have you been up to?
🥑 I was reminded that producing a $5 lunch video is harder than it looks! I wanted to make a delicious vegan open-face sandwich. Small problem. I researched bread I thought could work but in the store I noticed it "may contain milk." 😭 I had to come up with a new plan on the spot and kept having to redo my math in a rush, which was not fun. 😅 But somehow it all came together, and the final sandwich looked like a Krabby Patty, which made all the running around worth it!
🎬 I also caught my first Hannah L in our $1 Ice Cream Swap Battle. 😭 But only because buying dulce de leche in bulk is EXPENSIVE. I ended up spending more than Sam, but I still stand by the fact my toppings tasted way better than his. Sooooo ... Hannah W after all? 🤔
🎨 One of my favourite filming moments was our $10 Whimsy Challenge. Not gonna lie, I wasn't feeling very excited when we started because drawing has never really been my thing. We crushed sidewalk chalk to make paint and created a 14-foot whimsical hopscotch course! Seeing people actually stop, smile and play on something we'd created reminded me that it doesn't have to be perfect to make someone's day. ✨
❤️ I also got to celebrate my grandma's 91st birthday this month. Spending time with family and creating memories like this always reminds me not to take those moments for granted. I'm so grateful we got to celebrate together.
🌫️ We were supposed to host our very first Toronto's Best $5 Snack Challenge this month, but wildfire smoke had other plans. Safety comes first! The good news is we already have a new date: Monday, August 24. I can't wait to finally meet some of you there!
🍴My most random July food discovery had to be Adobo Fried Brussels Sprouts. I already loved Brussels sprouts, but this Filipino-inspired twist completely won me over. Why are they SO good?! 😭

Hey Centy Babies! 👋 We want to introduce you to another friend 🫶 Meet Kit! You might recognize her from our fidget toy reviews.
Kit's an editorial assistant with CBC Kids News, and her desk is literally just a hop, skip and jump away from us. Every time we walk by her little corner, it makes us smile.
Can you spot something you'd borrow for yourself? ✨🥳
Kit describes herself as: "Three muppets in a trench coat trying to sneak into the metaphorical movie theatre of adulthood."
