These past few years, I've seen A LOT of finance creators with ZERO finance qualifications coming out to teach trading and investing.
That's why you see so many of them copying each other's content, strategies and opinions. And to those who copied my videos, I'm glad you found what worked for you :)
But if you want to know how REAL finance practitioners, hedge fund traders and institutional traders actually approach the markets, read on.
When I was invited to speak at an event meant for hedge fund traders and smart money institutional traders a FEW YEARS AGO, here are 5 insider trading lessons I picked up that people on YouTube rarely teach you:
1. Technical analysis alone isn't enough.
If you focus on technical analysis only and ignore macroeconomics (AKA fundamental analysis), you will be left behind. Many bank traders I've spoken to use fundamental analysis in addition to technical analysis.
2. Risk management comes before making money.
Professional traders understand that protecting capital is essential. One oversized position or poorly managed trade can wipe out months of profits.
3. Institutions think in probabilities, not predictions.
They don't need to be right every single time. They focus on strategies that give them a statistical edge over a large number of trades.
4. Sentiment analysis matters.
Understanding market sentiment, positioning and the overall psychology of market participants gives traders another perspective on where the market might be heading.
A lot of times you'll see sentiment overriding fundamentals.
5. Many hedge funds use intermarket analysis.
They don't just look at one market in isolation. They study relationships between different asset classes, such as stocks, bonds, currencies, commodities and interest rates, to identify broader market trends and potential trading opportunities.
If you ignore this, it's like trading in your own little bubble.
