Who Killed Kurt OFFICIAL
I just finished recording Miss Understood with Rachel Uchitel and I had SUCH a good time.
Rachel is rad. Like genuinely rad. She was incredibly supportive, curious, smart, funny, and gave me the space to actually talk about the work we've been doing on the Kurt Cobain case without trying to turn it into some ridiculous clickbait circus. Which, as you can imagine, I appreciate more than I can say.
We talked about the investigation, the evidence, how the hell ended up balls-deep in a 32-year-old death investigation in the first place, and probably several other things I've already forgotten because apparently my brain leaves my body immediately after a podcast interview.
I'm really grateful she invited me on - and even more grateful for how supportive she was of me and the work.
The episode comes out in October and obviously I will be obnoxiously reminding everyone when it does.
Because subtlety has never really been part of the brand.
Coming soon: Miss Understood with Rachel Uchitel x your friendly neighbourhood justice weirdo.
(P.S. "Balls deep" is one of Beverley Ireland favourite expressions, and frankly, she has worked very hard to ensure it becomes part of my professional vocabulary.) 😆

So, Kurt’s original death certificate was for sale on eBay recently. Gee, I wonder who gave it away in the first place? 🙄
A few quick updates. The Exodus video should be up tomorrow (so sorry for the delay)! I’m doing a really cool podcast later today (very excited) and we have gotten a few VERY interesting FOIAs back.
I’ll start making videos on those and going over what each means (along with how we may be able to utilize them to get the case reopened) over the next few weeks.
Appreciate you all so much!

A small but important point about how this story has unfolded:
The recent article grew out of something Bev and I first discussed on a podcast more than a year ago. Bev also pitched the story to Alex Diaz and coordinated the entire thing. Rachel helped me locate the letters themselves.
It was a genuine team effort, and I am proud of that.
What is strange is that, after the article appeared, both TMZ and NewsNation contacted people who were not involved in that research or discovery, rather than any of the women who actually developed the lead and found the documents.
Both outlets already know who I am. TMZ and I met directly just a few months ago.
This is not about wanting every interview or diminishing the value of anyone else on our wider team.
Different people bring different expertise, and I have always been careful to acknowledge that. But the people invited to speak about this particular discovery were not the people who made it.
That matters.
Women's work should not become background material for other people to explain. Credit should follow the work, and media coverage should accurately reflect how a story was developed-especially when the people responsible are readily available and already known to the outlets involved.
The truth matters. So does the truth about who found it.
And just so everyone is aware. I choose to put Kurt first. Every. Time.
I am not upset because I need to be the star.
I'm upset because I built the platform (with Lisa), assembled the experts, found and developed major leads, carried the public interviews, and then stepped back enough to let the evidence speak-only to watch other people become the default faces of work they didn't originate.
And offers were made where I had the option to do a reality show and become very well known. I turned all of them down to focus on the science and make sure this was about KURT.
And now, it's becoming clear that I've just made it easier for people to write me out along with this team of women who've carried everything.
This planet is profoundly fucked, and I would like to formally unsubscribe from participating in its nonsense. Sadly, no retunds.

I don’t use Twitter (I refuse to call it X) much anymore but it’s really great for posting to the Seattle PD. Feel free to pop over and tell them how much you’re enjoying hearing about the meeting I had with them. Or, you know - anything else relating to Kurt’s case.
This is my account in case it’s easier for you to just retweet my messages to them.
Let’s show them we’re not going anywhere, shall we?

A funny thing happened at the beginning of the podcast today. I was talking about a case of Bryan’s and segued into talking about Billie Joe from Green Day and why I believe he’s supporting Courtney’s Sundance bs. Well, shit went nuts. So here I am, making enemies and irritating people. Again.
^^ and if you get that reference, you’re probably not one of the people talking shit about Green Day in the comments. Iykyk
Look, you are fully allowed to hate Green Day. You can have your shiny punk rock gold star for parroting the crowd and pretending “Basket Case” annoys you. But what you don’t get to do is rewrite history and claim Kurt hated them when there’s actually no solid evidence that he did. In fact, the evidence we do have points more toward him liking them.
And honestly? I don’t even care who Kurt liked or didn’t like at the end of the day — I like Green Day. You don’t have to. But the weird revisionist mythology around this stuff gets exhausting.
Part of the reason I get so annoyed about it is because my entire podcast is literally about not changing the narrative around Kurt Cobain to fit people’s agendas. That’s what the media did. That’s what Courtney did. That’s what half the people around him did for decades. So no, I’m not going to flatten an entire music scene into fake internet folklore because it sounds cooler.
Green Day slogged it out in punk clubs for YEARS. Cheap tours, DIY spaces, indie labels, underground scenes — same broader ecosystem. Different sound? Sure. Although apparently people forget that the first half of Incesticide is basically a chaotic little pop punk record anyway. 😆
This whole “Nirvana were authentic underground saints and Green Day were fake corporate sellouts” thing is ahistorical nonsense.
Nirvana signed to Geffen. Green Day signed to Reprise. Both bands came out of punk scenes and both got huge. Acting like one “sold out” while the other didn’t is just people romanticizing one band while rewriting the actual history of the other.

Can anyone help me verify if this actually ever happened? I know she’s confessed to killing Kurt numerous times in concert, so this wouldn’t surprise me. We can use the way back machine to vet if we figure out where and what account this was ever on. *edited to add it’s allegedly from instagram.

I know many have you been writing to Dr. Lacy (KC medical examiner). We now know he is actively filtering out any emails relating to Cobain.
Lacy says Kurt's death was "counted decades ago and changing it now serves no public health statistical purpose."
That's it. That's his whole argument.
Not "the ballistics tests from 1994 are sound." Not "the toxicology supports our conclusion." Not "here's why 1.52 mg/L morphine is consistent with volitional act."
Just... the number has already been entered into a spreadsheet somewhere and reopening it would be administratively inconvenient.
Kurt Cobain's homicide is ADMINISTRATIVELY INCONVENIENT for them.
Fuck them and the fucks they fucked in on.
If they think any of us are going anywhere, they are going to be very unpleasantly surprised.

I know I've been a bit quiet — but not because nothing's happening. Quite the opposite.
While I've been over here like "hold on, I'm texting my boyfriend" © (don't worry, he says hi), I've also been in some very real conversations with people who... let's just say matter.
I met with a colleague of Mark's - former prosecutor, former judge, now a professor (read: serious credibility), and her husband is a Washington State trooper.
So yeah. Not exactly casual coffee chat.
I've got a really interesting update coming. I'll drop a full video on Patreon this weekend, then YouTube next week.
Stay tuned. Things are moving.

Hate group, you're welcome to keep the bargain-bin psychoanalysis... but if you're feeling ambitious and want to try me in a Jungian arena, I'll be right here.
Just... maybe stretch first.
