THAO, a critically acclaimed songwriter and performer, is releasing her first album in six years, and it is a stunning return.
The critically acclaimed and well-loved songwriter has been endlessly busy outside the realm of record making since her last lauded album Temple: guest-hosting the iconic Song Exploder Podcast, hosting the PBS TV show Southern Storytellers, developing a musical, film scoring and film starring, gracing the cover of New York Times's T magazine, and working on her first book for renowned publisher Graywolf Press. But THAO is a stage-commanding recording artist first and foremost, and she is thrilled to be back in our ears and live in our sights.
Show Me drops October 30th via Kill Rock Stars; a suite of lush, expertly, lovingly crafted and powerfully voiced songs that are all different portals into THAO's kaleidoscopic inner life.

"Catch as Catch Can” featuring THE ONE THE ONLY Neko Case is out now.
This song is a sonic capture of (pretty hot) images I kept seeing in my mind as I wrote: bodies surrendering to each other in the ocean, surrendering to the animal in one another in a remote lighthouse, the doorway of a cottage by a virulent sea.. you know, week day stuff.
Thank you so much Neko Case and team for making this feature possible. Neko singing on a song of mine is a dream come true. So many thousands of miles logged on tour have had her voice as the soundtrack. Whenever I put on Fox Confessor Brings the Flood I see mountains and desert and feel my heart in my throat. I’ve been so honored and fortunate to get to open for Neko a few different times over the years. Her career trajectory and how she operates in this industry has always inspired me. When I first heard her majestic voice on this song I teared up.
thank you for listening

Hey friends! My new single, "Sick of the Times" is out now!
From the beginning, I wanted this song to be part of an effort to emotionally activate people toward movement building at local and very personal levels. Imagining how I want a song to exist in the world helps me write the song. As I was writing the hook I imagined it being sung/ screamed/danced to at protests, community organizing events, and most specifically, rallies for Working Families Party candidates.
I am a big fan of WFP. As an extremely concerned citizen I find great relief and active hope in a multi-racial, working class powered party that runs candidates determined to help improve the lives and circumstances of working people. We cannot isolate; we must stay connected and realize the breadth, depth, and potential of our collective power. And for true sustainability we must have fun and joy while doing it. See you out there.

I am quite honored and excited to offer some new and original music alongside this amazing piece by Loveis Wise (https://loveiswiseillustration.myportfolio.com) to help raise money for truly inspiring org's GLITS Inc. (https://www.glitsinc.org) and The Okra Project (https://www.theokraproject.com), in support of Black Trans Lives. Both these works stem from our @AdobeCreativeCloud #AdobeCoCreate collaboration in June (https://youtu.be/CX2WuJS3vWQ), on the meanings and manifestations of Temple. My track in progress is also continually inspired of course by Loveis' remarkable piece. Please see Loveis' Instagram post for more and better said info and DM them on Instagram to bid!! instagram.com/loveiswiseillu
