Red Oak or White Oak — which would you choose? 🏡
Both can create beautiful hardwood floors, but they give a home two very different looks.
🤎 Red Oak has warmer undertones and a more noticeable grain, giving the floors natural character and variation.
🤍 White Oak typically has a more subtle, linear grain and is often chosen for a cleaner, more modern look.
Shown here: Red Oak hardwood finished with Provincial stain. It creates a rich, warm finish without going overly dark.
☀️ And don’t forget about natural light! In a home with plenty of windows and natural light, a stain like Provincial can appear much lighter and brighter than you might expect. The amount of natural light in a room can make a big difference in how both the wood and stain color look throughout the day.
That’s why when choosing hardwoods, you shouldn’t just choose a stain color from a sample. The wood species, grain, stain AND lighting in the home all work together to create the final look.
Would you choose Red Oak or White Oak for your home?
