My life after surrendering to Christ

As captured in my last video, “Life Surrendering to Christ”, It took a lot of mental and emotional strain for me to let go of once was, and to step into what is. Christ made himself very evident to me through my convictions from the Holy Spirit, and from there I knew that life with Him is the life for me.

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity having a mind, will, and feelings, capable of speaking, guiding, and grieving which dwells inside of all who recieved it. (Matthew 3:16-17, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Matthew 28:19).

After surrendering, the Holy Spirit opened my eyes to the life I used to live, my relationships and my priorities.

Galations 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

The rewire began, and dry seasons came. Yet through the practical application of daily prayer, scripture reading, community, and replacing secular music and videos with Christ-based music and videos helps me continue living out my mission as His faithful disciple.

There was a point in time where I had a mini identity crisis in figuring out my denomination.

I put God on the spot, I had my bible in my hands, and in prayer I asked Him, “God, whatever page I flip to right now will decide where my faith stands for the rest of my life

And he brought me to Psalm 62, verses 5:7 stuck out to me the most “For God alone my soul waits in silence, for my hope is from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my deliverance and my honour; my mighty rock, my refuge is in God.”

With this I began to follow Him alone, not stressing so much about where I belong in the denomination aspect. And He still brought me back home to my Catholic church, with all of his angels and saints.

Now learning about Him, serving Him, loving like Him, submitting my ways to Him & trusting Him are all acts of my faith.

My life surrendering to Christ

I tried everything. I tried fulfilling myself with alcohol, women, money, partying, and I found a sense of fulfillment- but He revealed to me that this “fulfillment” wasn’t from Him.

I had such a hard time surrendering at first. I had gained the entire world, it felt like all my years of prayers had finally been answered. Yet everything I wanted became everything I never wanted.

I know what it’s like to give every ounce of energy, time, dedication and focus to something and it still not be enough. So I knew I could no longer do this life alone. I knew He was the only way. I stopped running, I gave it all up and He is actively fulfilling me with the fruits of the spirit- a few I want to highlight are love, peace, joy, kindness, faithfulness, and self control.

Surrendering is a daily act- not just a one time thing. There are still times where I want things my way, but I humble myself in faithfully knowing that His ways are greater.

“Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?” (Matthew 16:24-26)
