Megumi no Meguri. We've uploaded a new video!

In this video, we feature "Saita Farm," located amidst the rich natural environment of Awaji Island, Hyogo Prefecture, where they cultivate green bell peppers, onions, rice, and lettuce.
Meet Ms. Mifuku Nishida, who started farming as a homemaker and now manages the entire farm.👩‍🌾

Her inspiration for starting agriculture stemmed from a simple wish: "I want to feed my children fresh, safe, and wholesome vegetables."

Being able to eat freshly harvested vegetables might seem ordinary, but it is actually a true luxury.
Wanting to bring that kind of "luxury" to her children, her journey began with a small home garden and has now become her vital life's work.

Her thick-walled, low-bitterness green peppers are mild enough for even children to bite into raw.
She minimizes the use of agricultural chemicals as much as possible and incorporates traditional herbal medicine (Kampo) techniques to grow vegetables that everyone can enjoy with peace of mind.

At around 5:00 AM in the morning, while her family is still asleep, she quietly leaves the house for the fields.
After completing the harvest, she returns home to make breakfast and lunch boxes, helps her children get ready and drops them off at after-school care, before heading right back to the fields.

Although there are hardships unique to farming—such as natural disasters and damage from wild animals—she takes things one step at a time, supported by her husband and family.

While she used to deliver harvested vegetables to Kobe herself, using the pickup service provided by "Megumi no Sato" now allows her to secure precious time to spend with her children.

Hearing people say, "It's delicious!"
And above all, seeing her own children happily eating the vegetables she grew.

Those smiles give her the strength to head out to the fields again today.

Please watch the video to get a glimpse of Ms. Nishida's daily life as both a farmer and a mother.🍀

🌱【New Video / New Episode!】🎥

This time, we spend a day with Tomonori Numata, the third-generation owner of Numata Farm in Kobe, Japan.

During the summer, Numata Farm grows a variety of seasonal vegetables, including Shikuyō cucumbers, eggplants, edamame, and bitter melon.🥒

Tomonori carefully harvests each vegetable by hand, using scissors to cut them one by one.

But behind this quiet, steady work in the fields lies a major turning point in his life as a farmer.

At the end of last year, his father—the second-generation farmer who had supported Numata Farm for many years—passed away suddenly.

His father was known as a strong-willed man who had a deep passion for farming and never compromised on his beliefs.

Having learned farming by his father's side, Tomonori is now facing his first summer without his father.

The farm his father helped build and protect has now been entrusted to the third generation.

This is Tomonori's first summer carrying that responsibility.

As he grows and harvests cucumbers, eggplants, and edamame, he continues to learn through trial and error, searching for his own way of farming.

With the support of his wife and staff, he also faces the reality that farming is not something one person can do alone.

A shortage of agricultural workers.
Rising costs of materials.
Higher prices.
Extreme heat caused by a changing climate.
Damage caused by wildlife.

These are just some of the challenges farmers face today.

And among the words his father left behind was a phrase that continues to stay with him:

“Every year, farming makes you a beginner again.”

As Tomonori reflects on the meaning of his father's words, he works to protect the farm he inherited while searching for what his own generation of farming can look like.

This is the story of Tomonori Numata and his first summer as the third-generation farmer of Numata Farm.

And during a break from the work in the fields, Tomonori's wife prepares a special “farmer's lunch” using vegetables freshly harvested from their farm.🍆

The recipe is one that her grandmother used to make, and a dish she learned after marrying into the family.

Vegetables grown in the fields become a home-cooked meal,
and the harvest makes its way from the farm to the family table.

“From the blessings of the fields to the dining table.”

This is more than a story about vegetables.

It is a story about a farmer's daily life,
a family's bond,
and the traditions of farming being passed from one generation to the next.

We invite you to experience Tomonori's first summer without his father.

🌱 【New Video!】🎥

Nestled in Ikawadani, Nishi Ward, Kobe, is a farmer who has dedicated his life to working in harmony with nature.

Meet Kazuhiko Morino, owner of Morino Farm from KOBE.

After losing his father, Kazuhiko began his journey as a farmer at just 20 years old.
Rather than pursuing higher yields, he chose a different path—growing vegetables that are truly delicious, safe, and naturally flavorful.

Instead of relying heavily on pesticides, he enriches his fields with a unique fermented rice bran fertilizer. The key lies in the countless microorganisms living in the soil, which help bring out the natural strength and taste of every vegetable.

What continues to inspire him is a childhood memory:
the sweet, unforgettable flavor of the corn his mother grew in their home garden.

"I want people to experience that natural taste again."

Driven by that passion, he now carefully cultivates more than 50 varieties of vegetables, always putting the health of the soil first.

For the very first episode of "Megumi no Meguri.", we spent a day with Kazuhiko Morino, capturing his daily life, his dedication to the land, and the philosophy behind his farming.

Discover the beauty of sustainable farming, the importance of healthy soil, and the heartfelt story behind every harvest.

We hope you'll enjoy watching until the very end. 🌱
