Japan’s Medical School Caught Manipulating Exam Scores to Favor Men Over Women
One of Japan’s prestigious medical schools has admitted to manipulating entrance exam scores for more than a decade to limit female students and favor men.
Tokyo Medical University reportedly altered results from 2006 or earlier. In this year’s exam, all applicants’ first-stage scores were cut by 20%, while male applicants received at least 20 extra points, except those who had failed four or more times.
Investigators said the school wanted fewer female doctors because it expected some women to shorten or leave their careers after having children. The school apologized and said it may retroactively admit applicants who would have passed. The number of women affected remains unknown.

Bruce Willis’ family will donate his brain to science after his passing to aid frontotemporal dementia (FTD) research.
His wife, Emma Heming Willis, shared the decision in her book, with support from Demi Moore and his daughters.
Because FTD currently has no cure, postmortem brain tissue is critical for studying protein mutations and cellular changes linked to the disease.
The family has also launched a fund to support dementia research and caregivers.
