One of my most-used (and most underrated) tools! I buy cotton wash cloths in bulk. The towel-type tissue is super absorbent - and I always have one in my left hand or right beside my board while I work.
It becomes second nature to constantly dab my brush on it to change the brush's 'wetness' . Blotting the brush does two things at once: it shapes the brush head into a nice point for detail work, and controls the water load so I'm not flooding a wet wash on the paper by accident. Simple, cheap, and honestly essential. 🖌️ What's your secret low-tech watercolor hack? 👇
