I'm a composer, arranger, gamer, writer, amateur philosopher and video essayist. I make VLOGs about psychology and philosophy (especially as it pertains to video games) and I like to analyze fantasy media in depth. My channel mainly features VGM covers and remixes, original compositions and longform tribute medleys.

Most of my work is original, although I have created many remixes of well known video game songs as well. Additionally, I've attempted to create original songs in the style of Final Fantasy, Zelda, Chrono Cross and other video games. The genre of my work could best be described as a combination video game, classical, new age, drone, world (especially Celtic) and synth/electronica genres. I'm frequently working on new albums and projects.

My analysis video for Final Fantasy 6 will most likely be uploaded some time in October. I think in the end I was able to find some new things to say about the game, and I hope others will resonate. When I'm done with this one, there's a good chance the next video will either be about Final Fantasy 9 or Majora's Mask. I'm curious which would be preferred!

Each Christmas for the past 4 years I created a huge Zelda medley with live performers, each one focused around one of the 4 elements. First we did forest themes from all the games, then water/ice, then wind/sky, then finally fire themes.

I want to share that fire medley again here because it's been such a hot summer, and because it flew under the radar compared with all the others: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUknG... I had a new performer on it too, an amazing violin soloist, Isaac Pérez Riera. I was just so happy that he agreed to be a part of it!

This winter, I'm hoping that I can work with this same group again to create a desert themes medley. Here the likely track list, provided my health will cooperate:

-Field (Heat) (BotW)
-Lanayru Desert (SS)
-Gerudo Valley (OoT)
-Molgera (WW)
-Molduga (BotW)
-Twinrova (OoT)
-Spirit Temple (OoT)
-Skipper's Retreat (SS)
-Gerudo Desert (TP)
-Gerudo Town (BotW)
-Urbosa's Theme (BotW)
-Vah Naboris All Terminals (BotW)
-Desert Palace (ALBW)
-Lightning Temple 1st (TotK)

I feel as if my Tears of the Kingdom analysis flew under the radar a bit, yet for a strange reason! TotK was an extremely polarizing game. I've seen that the most successful videos about the game tend to have titles which simultaneously praise it while criticizing it, and further opinions are otherwise front-loaded.

I, for one, am a "Zelda purist" in certain respects, and I'll admit that TotK was practically my least favourite title. But there were still things about it which I felt were worthy of discussion! This was all addressed in the video of course! Yet the video, at its core, was not about TotK at all. It was really about the whole series, and the ways in which we can produce magical feelings and experiences within our own consciousness, and how the series more generally is conducive to self-directed transcendent experience.

I won't pretend this post isn't also a bid for views — but there were a lot of ideas in that video that I wanted to express, and Tears of the Kingdom was really a great backdrop for those things! You should check it out if you don't mind spoilers, and you want a deep dive into themes of surface meaning vs hidden truth, addictive media culture, and the modern-day gamer's relationship with information/content, and secret yearning for mystical experience.

I'm so happy to have finally completed the FF4 video... but now I'm finding myself already in the first stages of imagining one for FF6! I can't seem to let myself rest for very long between creative works!

So far I've got material about the Warring Triad as the deepest layer of integration, Kefka as a shadow element that ultimately pulls toward completing that same uneasy integration, some stuff about who Celes really is and how several characters only really get to know themselves in WoR, some stuff about forcing magical flow through conduits vs natural flow in nature (such as Mog's dances), Terra paradoxically being the most universally relatable character due to her feelings of isolation and her archetypal specialness, and some ideas about what it must feel like on the inside of Kefka's broken mind and how all people must essentially seem the same to him.

I wonder what are some of the other topics which ought to be covered. Some things that I think would need to be discussed (for which I don't yet have notes) include the Phantom Train, how almost every main character expresses a different aspect of the universal human condition (whether this is a bodily state vs an ego state), what the World of Ruin implies psychologically, the fact that the World of Balance was not truly in a peaceful or healed state and tragically couldn't reach a healed state until after the catastrophe, and of course some of the more generic stuff about power and corruption.

I suppose I'll be uploading a few more of long compilations, and maybe also some extended versions of the more peaceful tracks. I think a lot of people need access long, relaxing background music without too many adds.

I've been working on another analysis video, slowly and gradually. This one will be about Final Fantasy 4. :)

Here's my third OCR Podcast interview, featuring my Donkey Kong medley (once again with the delightful Stephen Kelly)! It's also the most recent interview I've done. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pGaM...
