On Dhanteras, we also observe the tradition of lighting Yam Deepam, offered to Yama in the evening.
The same flame of a diya can remind us of this eternal light within. Just as the light illuminates its surroundings, the knowledge of the Atman guides us beyond ignorance and helps us recognise our true nature!
