So recently I've been trying to give myself a personal masterclass on what makes a good thumbnail, so I can hopefully fix my discoverability problem. I think my thumbnails are good, but too simple. In an effort to better capture the vibe of the videos, I redesigned my two most recent ones as an experiment.

YouTube always claims it’s trying to help creators and relieve stress but I gotta say: knowing the majority of views I get from now on are fake, my subscriber count means nothing because it won’t show them videos anymore, and not even being able to see how many people actually liked my video is extremely depressing.
Truly the last 2 months have entirely killed my motivation. I already have my next video fully written and recorded, but I just don’t see a point in finishing it. At first I was sure that the changes to the algorithm couldn’t be that bad, but I feel like an idiot now about it.
It’s been two weeks since my last video and it hasn’t even gotten half of my subscriber count in *impressions*. If y’all saw it and hated it that would be one thing, but my click through rate and watch time are both above average for me at this view count. I don’t know why it’s being throttled so hard. It has no flags, it’s a fresh upload no copyright claims, it’s in line with all my other videos in the past. The average retention is longer than most videos on this website (25min). I genuinely don’t understand how the decision could be made it’s not worth even my subscribers seeing it in a suggestion tab or browse page.

Basically- the algorithm has already been a cruel thing that tells you nothing and makes decisions seemingly arbitrarily. Now it’s still doing that, but seemingly based on nothing whatsoever, and I’m not even allowed to see if there’s a problem unless I spend 5 minutes setting up a graph(which my studio still won’t show me so I can’t even do that right now).
It’s depressing. I’m starting to think that maybe the point of all the changes was to get people to quit.
