When your child eats only a small portion, repeatedly asking them to eat more can make mealtimes stressful.
So instead of making the plate bigger, I sometimes make familiar food more energy-dense.
For this roti, I used:
1 katori whole-wheat flour ½ katori potato flakes ½ katori cashew powder Garlic and black pepper 1 teaspoon ghee in the dough A little ghee after cooking
Add water gradually, knead a soft dough, rest for 10 minutes and cook like a regular roti.
One normal-size roti provides approximately 140 calories, 4 g protein, 21 g carbohydrates, 5 g fat and 2.5 g fiber.
Pair it with curd, egg, paneer or dal for a more balanced meal.
What creative recipe do you use for your child’s healthy weight gain? Share it in the comments. Your idea may help another parent.
Note: Use cashew only after it has been safely introduced.
A lot of parents are currently hearing the same thing from daycare or school:
“Another child has HFMD.”
And then the worry starts. Is that tiny red spot HFMD? Why has my child suddenly stopped eating? What do I even feed when every bite seems to hurt?
Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) commonly causes fever, painful mouth sores, reduced eating or drinking, and a rash on the hands and feet. The rash can also appear on the legs, arms or buttocks. Most children recover within 7–10 days.
But during those few days, don’t stress about “perfect meals.”
Hydration comes first.
Try soft, cool, easy-to-swallow foods like curd/yogurt, smoothies, banana, soft khichdi, dal-rice or popsicles. Avoid spicy, acidic, crunchy or very hot foods if mouth sores are hurting.
And please watch drinking closely. If your child is struggling to drink, peeing much less, has signs of dehydration, severe symptoms, or fever lasting more than 3 days, speak to your pediatrician.
Save this carousel because HFMD can spread quickly in schools and daycares. Share it with another parent who might need it.

Have you all read this book to your baby yet?? I have been reading this for Vihaan since he was 8 months & today, he can narrate this & knows the concept of "Junk" Food.
