Yesterday, a ghost took over my computer and completed some work for me.

That ghost is GPT-6 Astra. I tried it on my two real end to end tasks in computer use mode and wow I was impressed.

Here are the use cases,

1) The stock alerts in my schwab account are basic. I wanted a custom alert system where if a stock in my watchlist is down by certain thresold (say 5%) in the last Y days (i.e. 10) it sends me an email.

2) My video editors are in India, sometimes at 3 pm EST, I've an idea, I record a video and I want to publish it right at that time. But I can't as they are sleeping. What if I have an AI video editor who can do this end to end for me?

I solved both of these problems yesterday with GPT-6 Astra. The amazing part was it was truly end to end. Meaning for (1) it wrote code, published it to github, setup github actions, setup environment variables, it did everything. And it was perfect. The alerts are working already. The project is built, tested, deployed to prod, end to end.

For (2), I connected my camtasia video editor to ChatGPT and it took over control of my computer (computer use) and I felt as if an invisible ghost is working on my computer. It handled retakes, removed pauses and followed my instructions to produce the video. It is 80% to my expectations, I am sure if I build skills, give more context and with model improvements it will get even better.

The rate of progress is mind boggling.

A client recently came to AtliQ with a request I am seeing more and more often:

"We built a prototype with Claude. Can you make it production ready?"

We looked under the hood and found typical AI coding tech stack: Supabase, Tailwind, Node.js. There are decent tools, but the client's actual requirements needed a fundamentally more robust architecture.

This is the new pattern in our industry: vibe coded apps that demo beautifully but have no idea how to reach production and serve real customers.

I think this is the strongest job security signal for experienced engineers in years.

Vibe coding has created an enormous bloat of experimental software. Every one of those experiments that shows promise will need someone to rebuild it properly. Someone who understands scale, security, data integrity, and maintainability.

The demand for building demos is being automated.

The demand for engineering maturity is compounding.

I spoke to a 2 year experienced data analyst who is planning for her career growth. She has done her research on data engineering, AI and every other thing thats tech. Her next step is to learn data engineering tools and become a well rounded data professional.

She appeared serious to me but missed something major.

When I asked how her dashboards, reports and insights are being used by business to make decisions she did not have much idea. The maximum she can think is "The directors use it for review meetings and make decisons" - but what decisions?! Knowing answer to this changes the way you contribute fundamentally and makes a you top tier player.

If you are a data professional, just know that tools are mere instruments to solve a problem. The mindset you develop to solve problems is the core skill and you must ask 1000 questions until you understand how your insights are used and what impact it is exactly creating.
