9 leadership styles. One key PMP lesson: adapt your leadership to the situation.

A project manager may lead experienced experts today, coach a new team member tomorrow, and handle an urgent issue the next day.

Here’s how these styles translate into project management:

1️⃣ Autocratic: Give clear, immediate direction during a genuine emergency. Routine deadline pressure doesn’t justify controlling every decision.

2️⃣ Visionary: Connect project deliverables to the bigger purpose. Help people understand WHY their work matters.

3️⃣ Democratic: Involve the team in decisions where their expertise improves the outcome and builds commitment.

4️⃣ Servant: Remove obstacles, listen actively, and create conditions where the team can succeed.

5️⃣ Delegative: Give capable people ownership, with clear expectations, decision boundaries, and accountability.

6️⃣ Coaching: Help team members develop skills through questions, feedback, and support.

7️⃣ Laissez-faire: Give experienced, self-directed teams room to explore while remaining available and monitoring outcomes.

8️⃣ Charismatic: Use enthusiasm to build confidence and momentum. Follow through on the commitments you inspire.

9️⃣ Transformational: Help people embrace change, challenge outdated practices, and develop new capabilities.

These styles overlap. One project may require several.

💡 My PMP study tip: When answering a leadership scenario, first identify the team’s needs, the urgency, and the project context. Then choose the action that best addresses the situation.

“Servant leadership” is not an automatic answer to every question.

Effective leadership starts with understanding what your team needs from you right now.

I was listening to an Alex Hormozi podcast, and he said something amazing!



Someone asked him, "What is the cost of doing this thing?" He said, "Instead of asking, 'What is the cost of doing this thing?' let me ask you: what is the cost of not doing it?" In order to understand,



Every year you don't earn $1 million; it is costing you $1 million.



For example, the lady in the example of us: she was earning $100,000. He said that every year, it is costing you an ignorance tax, and that was very interesting. Ignorance tax: a tax of $100,000 for not knowing how to make $1 million.



Similarly, how much is it costing you to not do PMP? Every single year, you are still thinking, "Okay, it may or may not help us. It may or may not do it." How much is it costing you for not doing that?



Let's say you are in Gulf countries, and it increases your salary by, let's go with a very pessimistic figure, 4,000 to 5,000 per month in 1 to 2 years. I'm going with a very pessimistic approach here. Every year you don't do PMP, it costs you more than 60,000 dirhams. The only reason you aren't doing PMPs is that you are not committed to them.



Everything else is just an excuse and noise.

Who is there?

Syed Hamza Ali not only cleared #PMP today.



He proved to everyone that if you have a goal, no matter how hard the situation is, you can always overcome it.



His success journey is very interesting. He started a few months ago, and he was doing an amazing job.

But a big but.....



He got sick, very sick....



Now i have very strong follow up rules in my organizaiton and one of the rules is no matter what happens student reply or not reply. Whatever excuse the student gives, we keep following up.



Many people consider it aggressive and even stalking, but it produces results, and students are thankful that we never gave up on them.



Even when they were ready to give up. We never do!



However, when someone is sick, or anyone in their family is sick, we slow down our follow-up.



And this is what I asked my team for Syed Hamza Ali.



He is one of the most genius students; even though he was sick, he kept on studying every single day.



Day by day, he took steps towards his journey, and finally, on 17th Sep 2026.



He changed history forever and earned his #PMP certification!



I am so proud of him; the way you did it is just amazing.
