I finally got around to editing my Triss cosplay photos just in time for the Witcher 3 Remastered Release 🥹💜

I started writing a book about living with chronic illness and one of the chapters is just a poem

Soooooo I thought I’d give you guys a little sneak peak 🥹

The chapter is called:
I miss
(Read this while listening to sad music)

I miss the freedom of feeling the wind on a run.
I miss the days of carefree fun.
I miss that sun-kissed girl from the past.
I wish her energy had been granted to last.

I miss my full potential -
this part of me I’ll never know.
I miss the days before sickness
had dimmed my glow.

I miss when frustration was rare.
I miss when I didn’t have a care.
I miss not noticing my body at all.
I miss when the worst pain was an unlucky fall.

I miss falling asleep after playing all day.
I miss not sleeping my life away.
I miss when slumber meant dreaming, discovering new worlds.
Not anesthesia darkening my vision to the sound of doctors' words.

"Count to ten" suddenly wasn’t a game
I miss when medical bills didn’t cloud my brain
"Sign here" I’m told, as I read about death
A risk I’m expected to gratefully accept

One surgery, two, three… or was it six?
There’s nothing incisions and a cannula can’t fix
I miss not being prodded and poked
I miss not having to fight for hope

Be graceful with your pain,
don’t suffer too loud
Why didn’t you tell us?
Your silence makes us proud

I miss not observing the fading of my scars
All over my body, like constellations of stars
I miss not fearing the warmth of a hug
The risk of pain challenging the comfort of being snug

I miss feeling the wind in my hair
I chase the feeling through windows, my new source of fresh air
"Go outside, go for a run!"
How I wish I could spend my days in the sun

When I’m no longer tired from being alive
I will live and not simply survive
Until then, I’ll fondly hold onto this wish
Of a life where I no longer say “I miss"
