“The devil is in the details” means to a catch or mysterious element hidden in the details, it indicates that "something may seem simple, but in fact the details are complicated and likely to cause problems".
i really like that idiom and recently i thought “that works great for the auto detailing industry”
detailing or washing cars isn’t difficult, but letting the wrong product dry on a panel could cause damage, to much product in a dilution ratio could leave streaks. improper washing techniques could lead to scratches and marring, what seems simple at first can be plagued with those little “devils” that we miss or choose to ignore. i’m creating this channel to share the tips, tricks, mods, and methods i’ve learned and discovered along the way. if you’re new and old to the auto detailing world i hope that i can help and entertain you, as so many others have helped and entertained me ✌🏽🐿️💨

what if i told you i can get 66 uses out of a liter of primus with the 50:1 (very dirty vehicles) dilution at 2% pir … using my keg

so playing around with a video idea of a Detailers Keg (sprayer) vs Foam Cannon i have gone down a rabbit hole of dilution ratios and percentage strengths (otherwise known as PIR) and in the process i have mastered my foam cannon. AND I DON’T EVEN USE MY FOAM CANNONS 😜
i’ve measured my foam cannon output at three different cannon loads and have had consistent results and before i tell you my results check out these equations and try them for yourself
standard dilution equation
total mix needed divided by the dilution ratio = amount of shampoo needed
32 divided by 11 = 2.90 round up to 3oz of shampoo
*11 is 10:1 added together
to find the dilution ratio you divide the total mix needed by the amount of shampoo you’re using (important for finding the total output when using your foam cannon)
32 divided by 3oz of shampoo = 10.66 round up to 11 (11 minus 1 = 10:1)
percentage strength or pir of a dilution (the easy way)
1 divided by 11 (10:1) multiplied by 100 = 9.09 round down to 9% percentage strength
ok ok ok check this out with my karcher cube, 3/8 pressure washer hose and mjjc pro v3s with 1.1 orifice i’m averaging 352oz total with a 32oz mix in the cannon. if using a 32oz load at 10:1 with a 9% pir in the cannon my end result is 0.84% pir … that’s less than 1% strength of cleaning power (ever used a decon shampoo and it didn’t work as advertised on youtube???) i know i have! … now the break down for my set up is this
32oz load - 352 total ounces divided by 3oz of shampoo = 117.33 rounded down to 117 (116:1)
1 divided by 117 multiplied by 100 = 0.84% strength … that’s weak sauce
an 18oz cannon load is what i personally use to get around my car for a 1 time use of the whole cannon bottle and the total output is 206 and if i use the 10:1 dilution in that 18oz load then things look like this
18 divided 11 = 1.63oz of shampoo
206 divided by 1.63oz = 126 - 125:1 for a 0.79% pir … that’s even weaker sauce (not all 10:1 dilutions are the same in different loads in a foam cannon)
but if i use the 18oz load in the foam cannon and keep the 3oz’s that’s now a 5:1 ratio … now my end percentage strength is from 18oz’s at 5:1 at a total output at 206 is 1.44% pir … that sauce is spicy!
now percentage strength is the same as pir (panel impact ratio) … it’s not at all a clever trick to make you use more product. it’s to help us figure out the strength of the chemicals we’re using and adjust them to fit our needs. percentage strength/pir just tells us what percentage of chemical we have to the percentage of water. this could potentially save us money, make our products last longer per use and master our craft to S+ levels
