Śrī Devī Khadgamālā is not simply a long Sanskrit chant. It is a sacred journey through the Śrī Chakra, moving from its outer enclosures toward the central Bindu.
Khadga means sword.
Mālā means garland.
The “sword” symbolizes divine knowledge that cuts through fear, confusion and ignorance.
The chant invokes a sequence of Devīs connected with the different āvaraṇas, or sacred levels, of the Śrī Chakra. These names are not random. They follow a spiritual geography, leading inward toward Śrī Lalitā Tripura Sundarī, the Supreme Goddess at the heart of Śrī Vidyā.
That is why devotees regard Khadgamālā as more than a hymn. It brings together mantra, sacred names, visualization, Śakti worship and inner contemplation.
Its deeper message is beautifully simple:
The journey toward the Goddess is also a journey inward.
Śrī Mātre Namaḥ.

Most people know Gaṇeśa as the gentle remover of obstacles.
But Tantra preserves another, far more mysterious form of him: Ucchiṣṭa Gaṇapati.

Ucchiṣṭa Gaṇapati is an esoteric tantric form of Lord Gaṇeśa associated with transcending conventional ideas of purity, limitation and social boundaries.

The Sanskrit word ucchiṣṭa can refer to what remains after eating and, in traditional ritual language, to something regarded as ritually impure. In this form, however, the symbolism goes much deeper.

Ucchiṣṭa Gaṇapati represents a Divine Reality that is not confined by ordinary categories of pure and impure, acceptable and unacceptable, sacred and worldly.

He is frequently depicted together with his Śakti, emphasizing the union of consciousness and creative power. His imagery can therefore appear more intimate and unconventional than familiar household forms of Gaṇeśa.

Devotees and tantric traditions associate him with:

• mastery of speech and knowledge
• creativity and artistic power
• attraction and influence
• removal of unusual or deeply rooted obstacles
• spiritual transformation
• the integration of parts of ourselves that we normally reject or suppress

This does not mean that every practice connected with Ucchiṣṭa Gaṇapati should be attempted casually. Some mantra and ritual traditions connected with this form belong to initiated tantric lineages.

But traditional stotras, names and devotional hymns dedicated to Ucchiṣṭa Gaṇapati also exist.

And that is where our next Divine Journal journey begins.

We will soon explore the Ucchiṣṭa Gaṇapati Stotram, a traditional hymn to this extraordinary and little-understood form of Gaṇeśa.

Not simply the remover of obstacles.

Gaṇeśa beyond boundaries.

ॐ गं गणपतये नमः

Śrī Sūktam is far more than a prayer for wealth.

It is an ancient Vedic hymn invoking Śrī Lakṣmī as prosperity, radiance, nourishment, harmony, wellbeing and auspiciousness.

Its imagery of the lotus, gold, water and light reminds us that true abundance is not simply about possessing more. It is about creating a life where prosperity can remain.

Śrī Sūktam also asks for Alakṣmī, scarcity and inauspiciousness, to depart. In this vision, prosperity includes removing what creates disorder, stagnation and disharmony.

That is why Śrī Sūktam continues to be recited during Lakṣmī worship, homa, Friday prayers, festivals and auspicious occasions.

Prosperity in the Vedic vision is not merely what you possess.
It is a life in which abundance can remain.

Śrī Mātre Namaḥ 🙏🏼

Varalakshmi Vratam • Friday, 21 August 2026

Varalakshmi Vratam is not about how expensive the decorations are, how many offerings you prepare, or how elaborate your pūjā looks.

The heart of the vratam is intention, devotion and gratitude.

A simple flower offered with sincerity can carry more meaning than an altar prepared only for appearance.

Through the pūjā we welcome Śrī Lakṣmī, honour Her presence, offer light, food, flowers, prayers and gratitude, and remember that abundance is far greater than money alone.

Abundance can be:

Health • Peace • Wisdom • Family harmony • Food • Opportunity • Contentment • Grace

Our Varalakshmi Vratam Pūjā Guide walks through the main stages of the worship so you can understand not only what to do, but what each offering represents.

May Śrī Varalakṣmī bless your home with auspiciousness, wellbeing, wisdom and abundance.

Śrī Varalakṣmyai Namaḥ 🙏

Save this guide for tomorrow and share it with someone observing Varalakshmi Vratam.

🪔How to Worship Lakshmi: Read Her Iconography

Lakshmi’s image is not only beautiful. Every detail teaches us something about how prosperity should enter and move through our lives.

The lotus reminds us to remain pure and graceful even while living in the material world.
Her open hands speak of blessing, protection, generosity and the flow of abundance.
The elephants and flowing water symbolize nourishment, strength, fertility and the resources that sustain life.
Her radiance represents Śrī: harmony, auspiciousness, beauty and flourishing.
And her presence reminds us that true prosperity is not only money. It includes peace, wisdom, healthy relationships, opportunity and the ability to care for others.

In this Divine Journal series, we explore Lakshmi’s iconography and the worship lesson hidden within each symbol.

Because worship is not only asking the Goddess for abundance.
It is learning how to become a person capable of receiving, respecting and sharing it.

Which symbol of Lakshmi would you like us to explore next?
