I produced a new and exclusive track for the compilation "Solarmodern: Chillstep Village" from the Australian label Eco Futurism Corporation called "Undertow".
Besides my own, the compilation features really nice chillstep tracks by Anshuman Gogoi, Fosters, Twisted Psykie, Shaping, Domynion, Queight, Zephpopli, Cuezy, BeatmakerKelz and is a very rewarding listen. Feel free to check it out, it's on Bandcamp:
I hope you're having a great day. Maybe you need a little soundtrack to it and if so, I've got a new Mind Fusion Vol. 16 mix for you. As usual this is composed of released tracks, but also unreleased remixes and tracks, to make sure this is a coherent and wholesome sonic journey.
This is "I Dream of You, My Dear", the third track of my new album with the same name, but I actually want to talk about something else.
The vocal sample you're hearing in this track is from Hayden Quartet's song "Just a dream of you, dear" from the year 1913.
I discovered this sample in the US Congress Library's Citizen DJ project initiated by Brian Foo.
I don't think enough music producers know about Citizen DJ as it is a treasure trove with a terrific intention. The project's goal is to collect recordings, which are either public domain or which are so old, that the copyright has expired. It encourages creatives to use these samples and inject them in current culture to give them new life.
Today I'm releasing my new album "I Dream of You, My Dear". I don't want to say too much about it, since I think the music and theme speak for themselves, except that you can expect quite an emotional, pretty, trippy and sometimes dramatic, cinematic downtempo journey with the occasional appearance of a mutant.
Funny side note: I composed the major part of the music pretty much exactly one year ago in the middle of the countryside in beautiful Apulia in an ancient Trullo, that was literally infested with no-see-ums, scorpions and a giant centipede on the ceiling over my desk, that almost gave me a heart attack when it suddenly dropped right in front of me.
Today I'm releasing my second album for the year on Diventa Music. "Yes or No?" is a nice, chill, odd and wonky downtempo / hip hop album with a few quirks and experiments. While the last album, "Touch", was a bit more on the artistic, demanding side, this is just intended for a fresh, casual enjoyment. I've been teasing a few of the tracks already, but also included some remixes from Mind Fusion, which some of you have requested to be released.
Today my new album "Touch" has been released from Diventa Music and is available here on youtube, on my Bandcamp as well as in all good digital music shops and streaming services. You can listen to it in a seamless mix here: https://youtu.be/7bh3otHFyPs?si=xH8i9...
It contains 14 cinematic tracks, mostly a bit more on the experimental IDM / Braindance side and some of which I've been teasing already in the Mind Fusion mixes. As I wrote in the post before this album is a true passion project, very playful, sometimes over the top corny and does not care about conventions. It's made for open- minded listeners, but definitely not for the algorithm.
Hope you enjoy listening and any feedback is highly appreciated!
Cheers and have a great day,
Spoq
PS.: I feel kind of weird to feel the need to say this, but yes, this is all hand composed music with absolutely no generative AI in it. I live for the artistic process, I would probably die without it.
In about a week my new album "Touch" will be released and for a little preview here is the title track.
"Touch" is mostly in the braindance / IDM direction and for me it was a lot of fun bringing elements together I haven't heard this way before. However it's quite experimental, quirky, sometimes a bit over the top, like you will probably notice with this twist half way through, and definitely very algorithm unfriendly...not that I ever cared about that. Maybe it demands a bit much, so my hope is that at least it will find a small open minded niche audience.
"Touch" is the first of three upcoming Spoq releases this year, the other two will be a bit easier to digest, but for me as an artist, who just loves to play and experiment outside of conventions, this is my personal favourite.
Maybe you've been wondering what I've been up to since I haven't released any new music or mixes in quite a while or didn't even make a post. I'm just going to say it this way: most of the last year has been a series of really awful disasters for me and it currently takes every bit of energy to dig myself out of the hole I'm currently in. However, I never stopped creating new tracks and the good news are already 3 new albums coming out this year, starting with "Touch" on April 2nd.
Until then and also as a bit of a teaser for the upcoming releases, here is a new Mind Fusion Vol. 15. This features two new unreleased tracks from "Touch" and two from "I Dream Of You, My Dear" which will come out later this year. And also I did the usual treatments and reinterpretation of some of my older works to match the vibe.
And here is also the usual spotify playlist with the original versions of the tracks as far as they have been released, which is not that much this time, since it's a lot of new material: open.spotify.com/playlist/0Y75fEHTlOcDgYGzzN1BsC
I hope you enjoy it!
Apologies for the brief profanity in the poem at the beginning of the mix. ;)
I'm happy to share with you a new Mind Fusion Vol. 14 mix. Like previously I revisited a lot of already released tracks and took them further. So most of this is fresh and you haven't heard it like this yet.
I hope you'll enjoy listening to it and it'll make your day a little better.
Feel free to leave me a line of feedback. I'm always happy to read what you think.
And free dl / stream also on Soundcloud (you have to click on the "more" dropdown menu under the track on Soundcloud for the option to download the mp3 directly): soundcloud.com/spoqmusic/mind-fusion-vol-14
