I recently heard someone describe millennials as experiencing “timeline grief.”

And whew. That one landed.

Because I think a lot of us are grieving the life we were told we’d have by now.

We did what we were supposed to do.

Go to school.
Get the degree.
Get the “good” job.
Work hard.
Climb the ladder.
Be responsible.
And eventually, you’ll make it.

You’ll buy the house.
You’ll have some financial security.
You’ll get to breathe.

Except somewhere along the way…the math stopped mathing.

We entered adulthood through recessions, wars, a pandemic, layoffs, skyrocketing housing costs, stagnant wages, inflation, $4+ gas and groceries that somehow require a small business loan. Crisis after crisis after crisis. And every time we start climbing out of one hole, somebody seems to hand us another shovel.

I’m 39 now. And I think what pisses me off most is realizing how much of my life I spent faithfully following a script written for an economy, and frankly, a world, that doesn’t exist anymore.

I did the responsible thing.

I built the career.
Collected the credentials.
Worked hard.
Played it safe.

And I’m grateful for what that life has given me, but I’m no longer convinced that playing it safe is actually safe.

That realization has changed something in me…because if the traditional path no longer guarantees the traditional outcome, WHY am I still so afraid to take the unconventional one?

I never imagined that at 39 I’d be trying to build a travel company from scratch. Manufacturing products. Learning inventory. Negotiating with factories. Studying margins. Packing orders. Making mistakes. Spending my own money on an idea that might work…and accepting that it might not.

That would have terrified the younger version of me. Now?

I think I’m more afraid of waking up at 60 and realizing I spent my entire life waiting for the promised reward for following someone else’s playbook.

So maybe this is my millennial rebellion.

You told us to follow the rules. We did. The rules changed anyway. So now I’m writing my own.

Sincerely,

A pissed-off millennial who decided it was finally time to take some risks. And, apparently, now the founder of Samaán. 😂

My perfect Saturday…biking around a village in Denmark. Then proceeding to gone-with-the-wind-twirl around in a field of wild flowers in my the-hills-are-alive @onequince maxi. Just saying. 😌🌷

✨ Big Milestone! ✨

Hello! For my very first community post, I just want to take a moment to THANK each and every one of you for subscribing and supporting my channel. 💜 In my last video, The Brutal Reality of Making $0 After 3 Months of YouTube Monetization, I opened up about the tough reality of starting out on YouTube.

Well… I’m so excited to share that I’ve officially crossed the $100 payout threshold! 🎉 It may seem small, but to me, it’s HUGE—it represents growth, consistency, and all of YOU showing up for my content.

To my fellow small YouTubers: don’t give up. Progress is slow, but it’s real. Every subscriber, every view, every comment matters. Keep going—you’re not alone on this journey.

Thank you for being here. Here’s to the next milestone together! 🚀💫
