I wanted to share what Amy has done for her front porch decorations. She got these pumpkin pails from Walmart. They are $1.96 each. Shawn drilled holes in the bottom and she took some orange and black ribbons and ran through the holes. She has them hanging on her porch. They look so cute and festive, and they weren’t expensive at all. She said she plans on getting some battery powered tea lights to add to them so they will glow at night. I told her I wanted to share with my friends. Is this not so cute?
Everyone doesn’t decorate for Halloween, and that is ok. I thought these were a sweet, nostalgic way to be festive without being scary. I don’t like all the blood and gore that you see so much of, and I like how these are just fun and happy. Do you put out Jack-o-lanterns or pumpkins for October? 🎃
It is a beautiful day in my neighborhood! The temperature is 63°, the sun is shining brightly, and I’m so thankful for this beautiful morning. Harold and I get to go to church today, and I’m reminded that not everyone has that opportunity. Sometimes we don’t realize just how blessed we are until we stop and think about all the things we so easily take for granted. Today, I’m choosing to be thankful for the simple blessings….a new day, sunshine, family, friends, and the freedom to gather with our church family. God has given us so much to be grateful for. I pray you have a wonderful Sunday and a week ahead filled with God’s blessings. Be thankful. Be kind. Be a blessing to someone today.
It’s a crisp 62 degrees outside this morning, and I love it. It feels like fall. I know we will still have some heat, but it’s so much cooler than it was just last week. Perfection! Earlier this week I went thrifting with my best friend, Jane. She found me this beautiful little antique lamp. I love it so much. The ivy pattern goes perfectly with the greens in my bedroom. I put it on the vanity that belonged to my mother, and I love it here. What do you think?
Have you been outside yet? What’s the weather like at your home? Any big plans today? Leave me a comment and let me know. I am so thankful for each and every one of you. Remember to be salt and light, and to be kind.
Remember last week when we surprised Angela for her 50th birthday? Well, that wasn’t the only surprise we had in store for her. Every week, Angela does Music Trivia at a local pub. Miss Annie arranged for a whole bunch of us to be hiding in the back room to come out and surprise her. We got her good! She had no idea whatsoever, and I loved getting to celebrate her again. All the surprises and parties are officially over now, Angela. I promise we’re done. 😀
What are you doing today? I have been so busy lately; I need to rest today. I don’t have the energy that I used to. I am hoping that today I can refresh and recharge. What about you?
Last night at Mahjong, the theme was team colors/tailgate. Guess which mother daughter duo both got a mahjong! Also, guess which team we were representing. Here’s a hint… #rolltide
It’s still hot here in Central Alabama, but I’m believing cooler temperatures are just around the corner! I’m thankful for Sundays because we GET to be in church with others and worship together. Harold is still teaching on faith in Sunday School, and it has given me a lot to think about. Hebrews 11:6 reminds us that “without faith it is impossible to please Him.” Faith can be easy to talk about when everything is going well, but when we are going through hard times, that’s when our faith is truly put to the test. We may not understand what God is doing or know what the outcome will be, but we can trust that He is with us through it all. My prayer is that we will continue to grow in our faith and trust God even when we can’t see what lies ahead. I hope each of you has a beautiful Sunday and a blessed week ahead.
You know how I love my Annalee figurines. I got these 2 fall elves on Saturday at Sweet Pickins in Alabama. I love them! I stuck them in this little pitcher and I think they look so sweet here. Today is the first day of fall, so I thought it was the perfect time to share them with you. Hopefully, the temperatures will cool down soon and it will feel like fall.
What are you doing today? Tonight is mahjong night, so I am excited for that. Leave me a comment to let me know what you’re doing today, or how you are welcoming the first day of fall.
It’s thundering outside, the heat index is finally below 100, and look what I added to my Walmart delivery today! I am a sucker for pumpkin spice creamer in my coffee. I had to go ahead and have a cup this afternoon. What about you? Do you like pumpkin spice in your coffee? 🎃
This won’t be my view much longer. Last week, the farmers sprayed the defoliant to kill the leaves. When the leaves look dead and the bolls are bursting open, that means it’s harvest time.
Look around you today. You may not have a cotton field in your life, but you can still have a harvest. There are lots of things that look to be dead. If you look closer, I guarantee you will see that things are ready to burst open. It’s harvest time. Don’t let the harvest ruin on the vine. The Bible says that the harvest is plenty, but the workers are few. Let’s be workers today. You never know what someone is going through. Your kind word or smile could be all that is needed to bring about a change for them. Your small act of obedience may be what is needed to produce a harvest in their life.
The harvest is plentiful. The workers are few. Let’s be workers for Jesus today.
Yesterday we celebrated Angela at the office. I think she probably expected a party, because we celebrate every birthday. She certainly didn’t expect Mississippi Kween to come walking in, though. We surprised her with that. We had the best time and I’m so thankful. Each of these ladies works so hard and means the world to me. Angela is a blessing to me, and she deserves to be celebrated.
What are you doing today? I don’t have any big plans. Amy reminded me that Harold owes you a teaching video. You may have to help me to “encourage” him. Do you want to see Harold’s teaching from last week? He is teaching about faith. It really is good stuff.
