A short trip away from the city took Ngan and me to Cồn Sơn, an island community in the Hậu River where local families are giving visitors a hands-on look at life in the Mekong Delta.

Food. Fish. Farms. Local families. And yes... they put us to work. 😂

The Story of KT

For years, I’ve talked about Vietnam from the perspective of living here, doing business here, and understanding what it takes to build a life here.

Now I want to start sharing another part of that journey.

My wife Ngan and I founded International Hospitality Academy Vietnam, or IHA Vietnam, to help hospitality businesses strengthen their teams through practical, employer-focused training.

Ngan is the CEO of IHA Vietnam, and I serve as Co-Founder of IHA Vietnam and CEO of IHA Vietnam Holdings, LLC.

Before moving overseas, I spent about 20 years operating my own bartending and event-services company in Southern California. Hospitality has been part of my life for a long time, and after spending almost seven years in Vietnam, I saw an opportunity to bring that experience into something that can help businesses here.

Our immediate focus is B2B training.

We work with hotels, resorts, restaurants, F&B groups, bars, cafés, and other hospitality businesses in areas like:

Frontline service
Guest service and customer experience
Restaurant and bar service
Hospitality English
Complaint handling and service recovery
Upselling and sales
Professionalism and workplace conduct
Supervisor and team-leader development
Customized workshops
Training-needs assessments

We built IHA Vietnam to be practical. The goal is to work directly with businesses, understand the gaps inside their teams, and provide training that makes sense in a real working environment.

Over the next few weeks, I’m going to start sharing more about what we’re doing, what we’re seeing in Vietnam’s hospitality industry, and some of the workforce challenges businesses are dealing with right now.

WE FINALLY MADE IT TO CẦN THƠ! 🇻🇳❤️

Our newest vlog is up!

This was our first day exploring Cần Thơ together, and of course one of the first things we did was EAT. 😂

We tried bánh hỏi, walked around downtown, experienced Cần Thơ at night, and finished the day with dinner at Nam Bộ Restaurant.

What makes this trip fun for us is that we're both experiencing it differently. KT is seeing another part of Vietnam through American eyes, while Ngan grew up in northern Vietnam, so southern Vietnam can feel new to her too.

And this is only Day 1. 👀
