For Maria’s Day, we wanted to do something a little different…

We grabbed some doughnuts, explored the coast, rented a little boat in Newport, and headed out into Yaquina Bay to see if we could actually catch dinner.

**Spoiler: we did. 😁🦀**

This was one of those days that reminded us exactly why we chose this lifestyle. Not everything has to be a bucket-list destination — sometimes you just need a boat, a few crab pots, and someone you love spending the day with.

We moved our whole house 57 miles today. The fuel cost us $35 — but the day didn't cost us $35. Not even close. Here's the real number, and the eight hours of invisible labor nobody shows you.

Fuel: $35
Dump: $0 (but a half hour of the morning)
Drive: ~1.5 hours
Pack-up + setup: a half-day of labor
Lost work day: about eight hours, total

Five years ago, we sold our house, left our jobs, and moved into an RV full-time — a decision that completely changed our lives.

In this video, we go back to that decision and talk honestly about what led us here.

We talk about what life actually looked like before full-time RV living, what pushed us to make the change, and what it was really like to sell our house and walk away from the life we'd built.

We also talk about what we love about this lifestyle after five years on the road — and maybe most importantly, why we still don't see an end date.

This isn't a story about having everything figured out. It's about making a huge decision, taking a chance on a different kind of life, and discovering along the way that sometimes the life you thought you wanted isn't the life that makes you happiest.

And yes, there's some real RV life mixed in too — including a stop at Circle K to take advantage of $0.40 off per gallon, filling up the truck, and heading back to our campsite.

After 5 years full-time RVing through all 48 states, we learned the hard way: weather is the #1 thing that makes or breaks the lifestyle. Too hot and you’re burning propane on the AC. Too cold and you’re fighting frozen tanks.
So we built a simple system to keep our travels between 60–80° almost year-round. In this video we break down the 5 habits that let us chase perfect weather instead of fighting it:

🏕️ 1. Lean Into Shoulder Seasons — Timing beats destination. Best weather + lowest rates when the crowds aren’t there.

🌤️ 2. Chase Weather, Not Destinations — We changed plans mid-trip because the forecast shifted… and it paid off.

🛣️ 3. Stay Longer, Move Less — 2–3 weeks in one spot cuts stress in half and keeps you ahead of the weather.

🏞️ 4. Book the Popular Parks Ahead — Miss the reservation window and you get locked out of the best spots. We’ve done it.

🔄 5. Always Keep a Flex Plan — The last-minute change that saved our whole trip.
