Over 80% of you (poll respondents) said your focus in 2022 will be your SPIRITUAL GROWTH. I was so happy when I saw this because spiritual growth is also one of my focus areas for the year. Therefore, I will periodically share some thoughts and insights here that I hope will challenge us on our growth journey.
One reason many of us struggle in our spiritual growth is that we do not know or have a full appreciation of the fundamentals of the faith we profess. When this happens, there is a mismatch between our reality and the promise of scripture. For example, did you know that four things are part of the salvation program - forgiveness of our sins, the healing of our body, material prosperity, and deliverance from demonic forces? Ideally, we should be able to take these things for granted once you accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. These four things are your right, which means they are legally enforceable. But if you dont know your rights and how to enforce them (more on this in a later post), satan will joyfully cheat you.
So we must first be convinced that our sins are forgiven by the shedding of Jesus' blood on the cross. The requirement for God's righteous judgement (against sin) was satisfied in Christ on the cross. Your goodness is not good enough to pay for your sins. That's like a murderer saying he should be absolved of his crime just because he gave alms to the poor, or because he helped a widow. It's not done.
You must also accept that healing is for ALL. Most Christians believe all sins can be forgiven but unconsciously, they think not all diseases can be healed. They believe some diseases are meant to be/stay. This is anti-faith and inconsistent with what the Bible teaches. The same atoning sacrifice that forgives our sin, heals our bodies. Same blood. Nothing else needed. Jesus healed ALL who were sick and oppressed on several occasions. Healing is the children's bread. If you being evil, know how to give good gift to your children, how much more our heavenly Father? He will not withhold any good thing from us.
And the idea that God tests us with sickness is a downright demonic one. God does not, and infact can not test people with sickness and diseases! He lacks the capacity to do so. Just as he cannot lie. It's against his compassionate nature. Every good and pleasant gift comes from Him. The problem with this doctrine is that it rids us of the willingness to fight for and enforce our healing. You cannot fight what you explain away.
I will share on material prosperity and deliverance from demonic forces in a later post. I am routing for you on your growth journey.
