For Alan Morcos, supporting Palestine refugees and the Gaza 5K is a way to honor his family’s roots.
Alan’s father, Ellis, was born in Yaffa in 1925. Now 101 years old, he is a living survivor of the Nakba, when he and his family were expelled from their home in 1948.
At the Bay Area Gaza 5K, Alan, a six-year UNRWA USA supporter, shared why he continues to show up for Palestine refugees and how support can take many forms.
His father’s story is a powerful reminder that the Nakba is not just a chapter in history. Its survivors are still with us, and its impact continues across generations.
As Alan reminds us, whether you show up, fundraise, or donate, no act of support is too small. When we come together, even the smallest contributions can add up to something extraordinary.
🩵 Join Alan in showing Palestine refugees that Americans care.
The next Gaza 5K is coming to New York City, and we want YOU to be part of it! Whether you walk, run, or fundraise, join us in Brooklyn to help support mental health services for children in Gaza.

🎶 NYC, get ready to move! 🕺🏽
@thebrooklynnomads is joining UNRWA USA again in Prospect Park for the 2026 NYC Gaza 5K! Rooted in Arab musical traditions and shaped by the many cultures of Brooklyn.

Last year, they brought thousands together through their music at the 2025 NYC Gaza 5K, even composing and premiering an original song especially for the event titled “Don’t Give Up.” 🎶
Now, they’re joining us once again for a morning of music, movement, and community in support of UNRWA’s mental health services for children in Gaza. 🩵 📅 Sunday, October 11 📍 Prospect Park, Brooklyn Come ready to walk. Come ready to run. And definitely come ready to dance.

Today is the International Day of Peace. While the world observes a day of global peace, the ongoing suffering in Gaza exposes a painful contradiction. Today, let our reflection be an active promise to never forge Gaza.
And even under constant, daily bombardment, UNRWA staff in Gaza — who are displaced Palestinian’s — continue to provide essential services and assistance to people in the Gaza Strip.
On this day, we also remember every person in Gaza who has not seen a moment of peace for nearly three years now. They deserve peace that has been long overdue and the dignified lives they have deserved all along.
From the U.S. to Gaza to every corner of the world, everyone deserves to live in peace.
UNRWA is still in Gaza.
