What a beautiful way to spend a day in Palma de Mallorca.

We started above the city at Bellver Castle, taking in the views from the hill, and later made our way down to see the magnificent Cathedral of Mallorca, also known as La Seu.

But one of our favorite parts of the day was seeing Palma from a completely different perspective—in a horse-drawn carriage. 🐴 We rode through the city and along its cobblestone streets, taking in the architecture and sights at a slower pace.

For a family that spends as much time around animals as we do, there was something especially fun about exploring this beautiful old city behind a horse. Definitely one of the highlights of our day in Mallorca.

Sometimes the smallest moments from a trip are the ones that stick with you.

While staying in Barcelona, we had dinner at Enoteca in our hotel and absolutely loved the olive oil they served. Apparently, I talked about it enough that our server, Zoe, remembered. 😂

Later, we received a bottle of the olive oil along with the sweetest handwritten note thanking us for the evening. She signed it, “Zoe, the Dutch girl.”

It was such a simple, thoughtful gesture, but it meant a lot to us. When you travel, you remember the incredible buildings, the beautiful views, and the amazing food—but you also remember the people who went out of their way to make you feel welcome.

Thank you, Zoe. We’ll definitely think of Barcelona when we open this bottle. ❤️

There are places you visit that are beautiful, and then there are places that make you stop and think about the person who imagined them. La Sagrada Família was definitely one of those places for me.

Throughout the basilica, you can see how deeply Antoni Gaudí was inspired by the natural world—from the shapes and forms to the way light moves through the stained glass.

One quote from Gaudí especially stayed with me: “The great book, always open and which we should make an effort to read, is that of Nature.”

That idea really connected with me. Nature has always been a huge source of inspiration in my own life, and so much of what we try to create at Fluffy Feather Farm starts with that same appreciation for animals, plants, landscapes, and the beauty of the natural world.

Seeing how Gaudí translated his love of nature into something on this scale was truly incredible. ❤️

Another incredible day in Rome. We had the opportunity to visit Vatican City, walk through the Vatican Museums, see the Sistine Chapel, and spend time in St. Peter’s Square. The amount of history, art, and detail everywhere you look is almost overwhelming—in the best possible way.

Afterward, we found a little restaurant along the street and settled in for pasta, dessert, and some wonderful Italian coffee. They even made French fries for the boys, which we thought was incredibly sweet. Sometimes it’s those small gestures in the middle of a huge travel day that you remember just as much as the famous landmarks.

History, pasta, coffee, dessert, and French fries for the kids… I’d call that a pretty successful day in Rome. ❤️

A day in Rome checking a couple of iconic places off the list!

At the Trevi Fountain, we followed the tradition of tossing a coin over our shoulders into the fountain—a gesture said to ensure that one day you’ll return to Rome. So, of course, all four of us had to give it a try. ❤️

From there, we made our way to the Colosseum. Standing in front of something with nearly 2,000 years of history is difficult to put into words. It’s one thing to see these places in books and photographs, and something completely different to stand there together as a family.

Hopefully those coins do their job, because Rome is definitely a place we’d love to see again.

We don’t get dressed up like this every day at the farm! 😂

One of the things we always enjoy about cruising is formal night. It gives us an excuse to put on the suits, get the boys into their shirts and ties, have a nice dinner together, and—most importantly—actually stop long enough to get some family pictures.

We had such a great time on this cruise, and I’m glad we took advantage of the evening to capture a few photos of all four of us together. ❤️

Florence was one of those cities where everywhere you turn there seems to be something beautiful to look at.

We started at Piazzale Michelangelo, with an incredible panoramic view over Florence and the unmistakable dome of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore—the Duomo—rising above the city. Then, because it was Italy, we naturally needed pastries and gelato along the way. 🍨

We also stopped to see the famous gilded Gates of Paradise on the Baptistery of St. John. The panels depict scenes from the Old Testament, and the amount of detail in them is remarkable.

Florence gave us the perfect mix of art, history, architecture, food, and time together—and a whole lot of photos to remember it by.

Of course, you can’t visit Pisa without taking the obligatory “holding up the Leaning Tower” photos. 😂 But one of my favorite moments of the entire trip actually happened just a few steps away.

When I was around the boys’ age, I visited Pisa and went inside the Baptistery, where I watched a demonstration of its incredible acoustics. For whatever reason, that experience stuck with me and became one of those core memories from childhood.

So when we came back all these years later with Keegan and Kaleb, I specifically wanted to take them inside the Baptistery to experience it too. We bought tickets, waited for the acoustic demonstration, and suddenly I was watching my boys experience something I remembered doing at their age.

Travel has a funny way of connecting different chapters of your life. This was a really special one for me. ❤️

Positano and Sorrento were every bit as beautiful as we imagined. We walked down toward the beach, took in the incredible views, and enjoyed a meal overlooking the water. One of the little details we loved was a honeycomb dispenser with the actual comb inside, slowly dripping fresh honey into a bowl below. Of course, anything involving honey immediately gets our attention! 🍯

In Sorrento, Kaleb found the coolest lemon ice served right inside a lemon, complete with a tiny branch still attached. We also stopped at a little café for pizza and pasta that tasted unlike anything we’d had before.

We ended the day looking out over the beautiful Sorrento coastline. We didn’t make it into the water this time, but simply being there together and taking in that view was pretty amazing. 🍋
