**â BIG NEWS: Yachtgrot is officially evolving into Nave Pegos Faro Marina! â**
If you've been following the channel for a while, you already know that 99% of our videos have been filmed right here at Nave Pegos in the Algarve. As we prepare to break ground on a massive new marine construction project, itâs time for the channelâs brand to officially reflect our home base.
**Don't worryâthe channel is staying 100% marine-based!** We will still be featuring boat sales, practical yard information, and the maritime content you already enjoy. But we are also expanding our coverage to document an incredible new chapter for the yard.
Since YouTube channel descriptions have a strict character limit, we wanted to share the full story and future vision of the boatyard right here:
**A Brief History of Nave Pegos**
Steeped in maritime history, this site originally operated in the early 1900s as a traditional Algarve sardine factory. Between the World Wars, the Pegos family acquired the property, transforming it to trade marine goods with Gibraltar and beyond. Following WWII in the 1950s, Mason and Berry began utilizing the facilities for marine operations, paving the way for the official establishment of the NAVE Pegos boatyard in 1988.
Founded by LuĂs Dias and Fernando "Bruce" Belchiorâwhich is how it earned the affectionate nickname 'Bruceâs Boatyard'âit has grown into a premier Algarve hub. Today, with LuĂs directing finances, Bruce managing the heavy lifting and yard construction, and Joana running daily operations and customer relations, the yard provides hard standing for approximately 200 boats for essential maintenance and storage.
**Unrivaled Location & Infrastructure**
Situated directly in the heart of Faro, the yard boasts infrastructure rarely found in marine facilities. We are located just 10 minutes from Faro International Airport and only five minutes from the national rail network, linking seamlessly to the rest of Europe. With an international bus station, diverse hotels, and comprehensive city amenities right on our doorstep, the yard offers unparalleled convenience.
**Environmental Leadership**
Nave Pegos is proud to be a pioneer in eco-friendly boatyard operations. We utilize solar electricity to power facilities and advanced water desalination systems to generate fresh water without straining local resources. Crucially, we operate a closed-loop water recycling system for all hull washing. This highly controlled process ensures every drop of contaminated wash water is captured and filtered. Old toxic anti-fouling paint, engine oils, and other hazardous materials are safely isolated, guaranteeing that absolutely zero environmental waste enters the local water table or the delicate Ria Formosa ecosystem.
**The Next Chapter: Building the Marina**
We are now breaking ground on a massive expansion: constructing a 120-140 berth tidal marina featuring a step dock so vessels remain afloat at all times.
**What Youâll See on This Channel Moving Forward:**
This channel will serve as the dedicated visual archive for the new marina build and the daily realities of yard operations. Subscribe and stay tuned for:
* **The Marina Build:** Ground-up documentation of the entire project, including digging, steel piling, pontoon construction, lock gates, and shoreside facilities like the restaurant and laundry.
* **Boat Lifting & Maintenance:** A comprehensive video record of boats being lifted and parked. We are creating specific strap placement guides for different vessels (e.g., Bavaria 37) to serve as a long-term reference for safe handling and yard maintenance.
