Here is the full poem from me years ago. Now I made it into a song that is right here on my page. But…yea…here is the poem in it’s entirety:

MCDONALD’S
By Poetri

McDonalds! Did I spell that right?
Weird confession.
I don’t think I really know how to spell McDonalds.
So, since I am reciting this poem to you
And you cannot see the spelling,
I am gonna pretend that I am spelling it right.

I used to LOOOVE Mickey Dees!
And now that I am older things have changed.
Now…I LOOOOOVE it more!
Especially when the nuggets are fresh,
A twenty piece is the best!
And even a health nut knows that they got the best fries.
I ain’t gonna sit up here and lie!
How do they make their fries so doggone good?
Since they don’t super size anymore, I just order two.
And will turn back around and protest,
If you try to jip me by filling them halfway.
I want all my fries G!

I’m speaking from my gut. My stomach actually.
Cause that’s what loves McDonald’s the most.
And now that I think about it,
Since my stomach is not my brain,
That’s probably why I don’t know how to spell it.
If I were speaking from my brain, then I would say,
“I HATE McDonald’s!!!
I hate it spelled any kind of way with a passion!
Every day I pass one I’m asking my stomach not to pull over.
All along mad that my stomach has dominion over my mind.
I should be stronger than this.
McDonald’s is like Delilah and I feel like Samson
When she cut off my hair. Bald and Weak.
Unable to speak, only able to eat.
Praying to the Lord, that I find the courage to retreat.
I’m not up for the temptation; I lose out all the time.
I hate so much to see the McDonald’s sign.
Knowing that each French fry is killing me softly
Like a song playing on rewind.
How many times have I said no,
Just to get raped by a chicken sandwich?
Do you know how degrading that is?
I said NO!

Deep down I know that it is so bad for me
And the corporate offices don’t care about me.
They want to just keep feeding me
Lies wrapped up in apple pies,
Burgers mixed with Pesticides
My brain cries,
While my stomach lies there full and satisfied.

I know that I need to make a change.
And start eating at IHOP more. Just kidding.
Chicken and Waffles originated with black folks
And I am offended that IHOP is capitalizing on it!
Yes. This is a political poem cause my body is at war!
I’m fighting several battles here:
Unhealthy verses healthy
Processed verses Organic.
Life verses death.
Biggie verses Tupac.
Obama verses Osama
This is a political poem.

I need to make a change.
Eat healthier. More Spinach, more greens,
And a whole bunch of Vitamin D
Not from milk, cause that milk is a bunch of bullcrap!
And Milk from McDonalds is super bad just like the movie.
I need it raw. Uncut and unprocessed just like my poetry.
Real meat or even no meat just like some people’s poetry.
I need fruits and vegetables and fiber and protein.
My brain desires Fish oils and Omega threes.
I have been eating badly for some long, I need Omega fours.
I am so tired of everyone putting on the label
“No High Fructose Corn Syrup”
Well, Thank you! But what about the other stuff?
Stop acting like you are doing me a favor
When the obesity rate in America is as high as it has ever been.
You are not my friend. You are only friends with money.
So, stop acting like you care!
Throwing around the word Organic to get my attention.
When Organic Fried Hot dogs are not good for you.

But, I can’t totally blame you.
I need to be around for my children.
If that ain’t enough to make me stop…
Then there is something wrong with me.
Although it feels like it, you’re not putting a gun
To my head every time I pass the Golden Arches.
I’m the one holding the pistol and actually shooting myself
Every time I take a bite out of these great tasting French Fries.
Yea, it’s not really your fault.
You are only looking out for you.
I need to look out for me.
I’m the one that needs to make a change.
