Brian Lagerstrom

Hi! I'm professional chef and baker, Brian Lagerstrom. On this channel I'll show you how I think about and cook food at the professional level then turn those techniques into approachable, easy to replicate dishes for you, the home cook.

I publish 1 video per week (on Thursday) that focuses on improved versions of classic dishes, elevated weeknight cooking, and best practices to help inspired home cooks make restaurant quality food from their kitchens. If that sounds like something you're into, I hope you'll keep watching.

The garlic press I spent 2 years designing and developing is finally available for sale!

amzn.to/4vQfEA7

This garlic press is 100% stainless steel construction, so its super heavy duty and built to last a lifetime (literally, this thing is like a wrench)

It has 2 removable baskets, a large one for chopped garlic, and a small one for mince or paste. The baskets are super easy to wash and the whole thing is dishwasher safe.

It can press up to 4 cloves at once and has no problem pressing unpeeled cloves as well.

I hope you guys try it, and I hope you love it. Link is below. Let me know what you think.

No new video this week. I’ll be back with a fresh one on June 7th 🫡

If you’re looking for something seasonally appropriate to make in the meantime, this one’s a banger: https://youtu.be/aMRw-v7tO7I?is=IiyBm...

After the longest break I’ve ever taken from uploading since I started making YouTube videos 6 years ago, I’ll be back with a new video this Sunday at 10am CST!
Thank you to the literal hundreds of people who sent kind messages while I was away. The break was much needed, and I’m excited to get back into the kitchen and film videos.

The video format has changed a little, but the goal hasn't changed: showing you how to make really good, well-tested recipes that you can actually cook at home.

We’re premiering the video on Sunday, so I’ll be in the chat starting around 9:45am if you want to say hi, or ask questions.

See you Sunday.

Hey everyone,

Im looking for some recommendations for things to do, places to see, restaurants to try, and dishes to try around Kyoto/Osaka/Kanazawa in Japan. Also if you live in those cities and possibly want to show me around, DM me on Instagram.

Im also open to other cities in the area, still forming up the trip. Thanks in advance!

Hey Everyone,

Im writing this to let you all know that Ive decided to take an extended break from uploading videos.

Why?

YouTube is fun and rewarding, but anyone who does it over the long haul will tell you that it's VERY hard to do professionally if you don't set up your work in a sustainable way...and while pursuing the passion I felt for sharing recipes and building this community, I never got around to that, and now Im overcooked.

This kind of burnout is weirdly common these days on YouTube. Im not sure if the platforms incentives drive creators crazy or if the idea of making videos for a living attracts people that are already kinda crazy in the first place. Either way, if you watch YouTube, you know the deal: creator builds audience with tons of effort, then creator maintains that audience with tons of effort, then creator makes burnout community post or video explaining why YouTube is hard.

So now Im taking a long break to figure out how to make work that Im proud of without becoming limp spaghetti in the process. I want to thank you for being here. I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to make recipes for a living. I will see you guys after a while, and I hope you're still here and interested when Im back...which will probably be in a month or two.

Talk Soon,
Bri.

P.S. The Lagerstrom Home Goods Garlic Press and Digital Scale (along with a few other tasty kitchen tools) are still working and will be coming out very soon! Stay tuned for updates, its taken a while to get them designed and tested, but after a ton of revisions and changes I'm TRULY super stoked on them and I cant wait for you to try them. Stay tuned for updates.

Heads up, my new video uploads will be posting on Sundays now instead of Thursdays. Forgive me. I know how much you love sneaking cooking vids while you're at work.

Have a spoon at the ready and watch the next one tomorrow 12/14 at 10am CST

Dropping into your feed to remind you that I uploaded a new vid today, rather than the usual Thursday. 5 very fun (imo) breakfasts that you can make in 15 minutes or less. It's Lorn's favorite video of the year.
