A museum put a one-star review on a T-shirt.

People paid to wear it.

The review: “Worst aquarium ever.”

The business: the New Bedford Whaling Museum.

Whale skeletons. No live whales.

The museum started selling the design in 2025.

This July, CBS covered the story. By the following afternoon, the museum had received 738 online orders, mostly for the “worst aquarium” merch.

What I love is that you don't have to care about whaling history to get the joke.

The shirt gives people a reason to be interested in the museum before they've ever visited.

That's a useful test for branded merch:

Would someone want to wear this if they'd never heard of your business?

The best headline ever written wasn't written.

In 1958, David Ogilvy won the Rolls-Royce account. Tiny budget. Two ad placements. It had to work.

He spent three weeks doing nothing but research. Engineering reports. Technical reviews. Factory specs.

Then he found it. Buried in a British car magazine, a quote from the technical editor:

"At 60 miles an hour, the loudest noise comes from the electric clock."

He used it word-for-word.

Sales rose 50% that year. Ogilvy later called it the best headline he ever wrote.

But he didn't write it. He found it.

The best copy is already out there - in reviews, in specs, in customer language. Your job isn't to invent. It's to notice.
