The second part of the Bucks Free Press feature on Jim Capaldi looks beyond the records, concerts and famous collaborations to explore the man remembered by the people of Marlow.
Writer Daniella Andrew speaks with Aninha Capaldi about Jim’s life at the Old Parsonage, the friendships he formed around the town and the warmth he showed to everybody he met.
“He was very approachable. He always had time for people,” Aninha recalls.
Following Jim’s memorial service, local people repeatedly approached Aninha with the same simple words: “I used to know Jim.” Whether they had met him in the High Street, shared a conversation in a local pub or simply encountered him around town, they remembered the person rather than the rock star.
The article also explores the stories attached to the Old Parsonage, Aninha’s work preserving Jim’s words and lyrics, and the Heritage Plaque recently installed at the family’s former home.
Thank you to Daniella Andrew and the Bucks Free Press for capturing this important side of Jim’s story.
