Big Ambitions moves forward at full speed again soon, as well as the Elite Dangerous adventure beginning on Thursday (Day 0 stream already scheduled on the channel, covering everything).

Unfortunately I’m going to call it quits on Space Haven. Time has kinda killed the interest for me at this time. It happens. Time kills a lot of things… and OMG so many better things have launched all around me without any time to look at them. You’ve all recommended and reminded me on so many of them as well. I wish I could just cover them all sometimes, but I’ve gotta really think about what I’m interested in right now. What’s fun for me today?

Life is stressful lately. Like, truly, I’m certain I have had more hairs turn gray in the last 6 months than in the previous 6 years. Games right now, above everything else, have to bring me genuine joy. I’m gonna start putting that forward with even more weight than before.

So I have done that thing I do again, where I start too many things without the time to actually play them all. It’s a pattern I just can’t seem to shake. I like too many games, and this month is just insane for releases. Absolutely impossible to play even close to everything. So many games I’ve played in the past are going 1.0 at around the same time.

On top of that, I’m swamped with my kids, between my son’s baseball (I’m on the coaching staff) and music training, and needing to watch my daughter from 3pm onwards every day…

I’m about to make matters worse, in a way.

Some of you know, I love space games, and the popular major flight simulations. Specifically, many hundreds of hours in Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous. They are both individually very different games, better at completely different things, and I love them both. Depending on my mood and what I’m feeling like doing, I periodically choose one to spend any spare time I get.

Lately that itch to play has returned, as it usually does after a while away. When the desire is interaction, engagement in simulation, industry, and trade, or role playing life in a physicalized world, it’s Star Citizen. I have many streams of that more recently.

Today though, that itch is to see the unknown, and to explore. To find things nobody else has found - so naturally, Elite is much better for that. The last time I streamed it was about 3 years ago I think (there’s a playlist on the channel someplace). That’s before exobiology!

I have a major mission I’d like to start, next week if possible, as a regular live show twice a week, to explore Elite’s vast 400 Billion star galaxy to discover the unknown, and brave the dangers of deep space travel for a mission that will likely take me a year to complete:

I’m calling it a mission for “1,000 Full Firsts.”

Be the first to discover, scan, and land with boots on the ground, 1,000 times. That means taking our time in brand new systems, being thorough, so as to cover everything meaningful in any new system we discover that nobody else has seen before. Even after millions of players, and this game existing nearly 12 years, over 99% of star systems remain unexplored by anyone in the world.

If you’ve played Elite Dangerous much, you know what that means, maybe. It’ll be something I’ve never done before, but I’ve been preparing (and going through the engineering grind) for a couple hours every week for the last few weeks to prepare for this.

I’ll stream it live on the channel starting soon, VODs available afterwards as always. This will release alongside Big Ambitions. The Mission for “1,000 Full Firsts” will be a side project that goes live the same time every week until completed, with a live counter on screen showing our progress as we discover. It’ll be a legnthy task, with many months way out in the black.

Existing Projects:
As for Space Haven, it’s obviously not posting as regularly anymore. I’m not sure that’ll change much. I don’t want to say it’ll end up fading away as an unfinished project, as I really don’t like doing that, but at the end of the day, this is always about what’s fun, and when my mind is stuck on an idea, and it becomes something I think about all the time - it becomes a challenge to keep up the initiative and interest in other things, unless that itch is getting scratched too.

Other Games:
I’ve made a few videos on some other games too, but not committing to a play-through on them until Big Ambitions wraps, and then I’m gonna really really really try (and likely still fail) to only have one game at a time alongside Elite.

So Space Haven and Corsair Cove nearly tie, with Space Haven winning by what is basically just enough votes to have it show 33% instead of 32%.

My schedule continues to be pretty variable, and as a result of what I’m seeing up ahead of me, I can’t properly commit to live streaming yet.

So what I’ve decided to do, is videos… for both. I’ll treat them as if they tied, and get ya vids for both. Will get started this week pre-recording, and will start releasing them the following week, when my family and I are on a week-long trip to Texas. So it’ll be some things I can share while I’m away like that.

Loads of things distracting me during the summer. Kids out of school now, and lots of activities and such scheduled as is typical this time of year. When uploads slow to a crawl (now), this is why usually. I'll do what I can to fit recordings in, and will have some time every week, but it's nowhere near the same amount of time as I usually do when they are away in school every day.

CAR DEALER SIM: I don't know what the issue is, or how it can be fixed, because I'm not smart enough for that. All I'm gonna do is reduce some settings and hope for the best as I continue it a little longer and we'll see.

RETRO REWIND: Looking to get a few more done this week. Hopeful for a video out tomorrow, and every day after that, but no promises.

Can only afford one project really at a time after this I think, so I'll see about adding something new to my plate once these two are wrapped up. I'm taking a look at a few interesting ideas, some are quick one-offs perhaps (we'll see how videos perform), while others I can definitely see 15-20 videos out of them.
