9/20 1226PM: Scattered storms are possible this afternoon and evening in the Concho Valley, Big Country, and Hill Country. They'll move east and southeast, with a risk of localized damaging winds, pocket-change-sized hail, lightning (which may start fires), and locally heavy rain. We think they'll fizzle out before they reach I-35 in Central Texas this evening. This evening and overnight, we may also see some storms move south into Texoma and North Texas from Oklahoma. Storm chances are uncertain this afternoon in Texoma and North Texas, but certainly not zero. When thunder roars, get your butt indoors! ~David

September 18: No Texas Weather Roundup video today — the Baldy-in-Chief is on the road.
To be clear: the weather is not taking the day off, even if I'm on a plane instead of in front of a camera. Keep an eye on the radar and our updates here — we're still watching it, just without the studio lighting.

9/16/26 920PM: Calendar says mid-September. Texas says "that's cute." 🙃
Thursday morning lows, and I use the word "low" very loosely:
🔥 Galveston: 84. That's not a morning low. That's a bath.
🔥 Houston & Corpus Christi: 82. You'll be sweating before the coffee's done.
🔥 Dallas, Fort Worth & Austin: 80. Walk outside at 6 AM and it's already warm.
😐 San Antonio, B/CS & Laredo: 78. Still not "fall." Just less wrong.
🧥 Dalhart: 62. Congratulations, Panhandle. You're the only part of Texas that got the fall memo. Don't rub it in.
🌄 Alpine: 66. The Big Bend crowd is quietly winning again.
Most of the state wakes up in the upper 70s to low 80s. Fall is technically on the way.
It's just taking the scenic route, probably through the Panhandle, and stopping at every Buc-ee's.
Pumpkin spice people: I see you. I respect you. Keep that sweater in the closet a while longer. 🎃➡️🗄️

September 10th | Happy Thursday! As stated in yesterday's video, I'm in the midst of travel this morning/afternoon. Seeing as it's rude to record rather long videos in the cabin of an aircraft, I'll have no regular video this morning/afternoon. We'll be keeping a close eye on increased popup storms this afternoon/evening as a weak boundary moves south into North Texas, Texoma, Northwest Texas, and western Texas.

9/1 1230PM: TS Edouard is nearing landfall along the Texas/Louisiana border and is moving northwest. This will result in heavy rain and strong winds affecting the Golden Triangle area this afternoon. The heaviest rainfall is anticipated tonight in the Golden Triangle and East Texas, where the risk of flash flooding is increasing. ~David

The National Hurricane Center will begin advisories on Potential Tropical Cyclone Five (formerly AL97), located in the northwestern Gulf, at 10 AM CDT. We expect tropical storm warnings for the Upper Texas Gulf Coast, but the primary concern will be increased chances of heavy rain. David will have a detailed briefing out by 11 AM CT with the latest forecast.
