We educate a lifestyle that attempts to reduce an individual's or society's use of the Earth's natural resources, and one's personal resources. It is often called "earth harmony living" or "net-zero living". As a practitioner of this lifestyle, we often attempt to reduce the ecological footprint (including their carbon footprint) by altering their methods of transportation, energy consumption, and/or diet. And our aim to make peoples sustainable, naturally balanced, and respectful of humanity's symbiotic relationship with the Earth's natural ecology.

๐ฟ๐ธ Nature Photo Walk at Nannilam Eco Village
It was a wonderful experience to be part of a Nature Photo Walk at Nannilam Eco Village, where photography became a powerful medium to observe, document and tell stories about nature, agriculture and rural life.
The photo walk was organised by Mr. Fardheen, who brought together a team of 15 participants from Bengaluru to experience Nannilam Eco Village through their cameras.
The central idea was simple yet powerful:
โCreate a story through photographs.โ ๐ท๐ฑ
What made the experience particularly interesting was the diversity of the participants. The group included professionals and enthusiasts from different creative fields such as actors, cinematographers, writers and photographers.
I had the opportunity to share some of my experiences from agricultural journalism, particularly on how photography and visual storytelling can help document farmers, agricultural practices, rural communities and innovations in sustainability.
For me, agriculture is not just about crops and farmingโit is also about people, landscapes, traditions, livelihoods and the stories behind them.
Places like Nannilam Eco Village provide a beautiful living landscape where nature, farming, traditional knowledge and sustainable living come together.
A camera can capture an image, but a thoughtful photographer can capture a story, emotion and perspective. ๐๐ธ
Thank you to Mr. Fardheen and all the participants for creating this wonderful space for creative exploration and storytelling.

๐ฑ A Meaningful Saturday at Nannilam Eco Village
Saturday at Nannilam Eco Village was filled with inspiring guests, meaningful conversations, and ideas for the future of sustainable agriculture.
One of the important guests was Mrs. Archana Stalin and Mr. Stalin, founders of myHarvest Farms.
๐พ What does myHarvest Farms do?
At its core, the myHarvest model connects farmers directly with urban consumers:
Farmers โ Natural/Chemical-free Cultivation โ Procurement & Aggregation โ Processing & Packing โ Urban Consumers
Rather than simply owning large farms, myHarvest works closely with farmers, helping aggregate their produce and connect it with consumers. According to a 2024 interview, the company was working with 300+ farmers across Tamil Nadu, with its produce initially distributed primarily in Chennai.
During their visit, Mr. Rajesh, Founder of Nannilam Eco Village, had an interesting interaction with Archana Stalin on how similar farmer-based models could potentially be developed in the Kalvarayan Hills in the future.
I also had the opportunity to interview Archana Stalin and Mr. Stalin about their entrepreneurial journey, business model, experiences, and their approach to connecting farmers with consumers.
It was a valuable exchange of ideas, and I look forward to future collaborations between Nannilam Eco Village, myHarvest Farms, and Country Farmss Media to create more sustainable and farmer-centric models.
๐ฑ From farm to consumer โ building a more sustainable food system together.

๐พ Salem District Farmersโ Grievance Meeting
A farmersโ grievance meeting was held in Salem district, where farmers brought forward several important concerns and demands before the District Collector.
Key demands raised by the farmers:
๐น Declare Salem district as a drought-affected district considering the prevailing water scarcity.
๐น Provide livestock feed at subsidised prices to support farmers facing increasing fodder costs.
๐น Before farmers undertake borewell drilling, the concerned government departments should properly assess the groundwater availability and geological conditions of the area.
๐น With groundwater levels declining and several existing borewells becoming dry, farmers have requested 50% subsidy for installing borewell motors.
๐น Farmers also raised concerns about leopard movement in rural areas, where livestock such as goats, cattle and poultry are reportedly being attacked. They requested the Forest Department to take appropriate action to ensure the safety of people and livestock.
These concerns were recorded on behalf of Country Farmss by farmer Mr. Sathish Kumar.
The farmers expect appropriate government action on these issues, which directly affect agricultural livelihoods, livestock safety and water security in the district.

๐ A Major Funding Opportunity for Climate Action, Sustainable Agriculture & Rural Development in India
The European Union has announced a significant funding opportunity for civil society organisations working towards climate action and sustainable development in India.
๐ช๐บ EUโIndia Civil Society Call 2026
โCivil Society Contribution to Policy Dialogue, Climate Action and Sustainable Value Chainsโ
The call aims to strengthen the role of civil society in addressing climate change, sustainable economic development and the transition towards more sustainable value chains.
๐ฑ Potential areas of focus
The opportunity is particularly relevant to organisations working on:
๐พ Regenerative & climate-resilient agriculture
๐ณ Agroecology & agroforestry
๐ง Water security & resource efficiency
โป๏ธ Circular agriculture & waste-to-value
๐ฅฌ Sustainable agricultural value chains
๐ฉโ๐พ Women & youth empowerment
๐ค Farmer organisations & rural livelihoods
๐ Biodiversity & ecosystem restoration
๐ Research, knowledge sharing & policy dialogue
๐ฐ Funding
Projects can seek โฌ1.5 million to โฌ2 million, with a project duration of approximately 36โ48 months.
There is also a dedicated component for India's North-Eastern Region, while the India-wide component provides an opportunity for projects across the country.
โ ๏ธ Important eligibility consideration
For Indian organisations applying as the Lead Applicant, the call includes an important FCRA requirement at the full application and contracting stages.
Therefore, organisations without FCRA should carefully examine the partnership provisions and consider working with an eligible FCRA-registered organisation where appropriate.
๐ Concept Note deadline: 15 September 2026
This is not a conventional small NGO grant. It is an opportunity to develop large-scale, multi-year programmes connecting climate action, agriculture, rural livelihoods, sustainable value chains and policy change.
For organisations working at the intersection of agriculture + sustainability + climate resilience, this call deserves serious attention.
๐ Official EU Call:
[European Union โ India Civil Society Call 2026](www.eeas.europa.eu/delegations/india/india-civil-sโฆ)
The future of agriculture must be climate-resilient, regenerative and economically sustainable. Opportunities like this can help take proven solutions from the field to scale. ๐ฑ๐
