Through its Elected Representatives Report Card, Praja assesses how elected leaders engage in debates, raise civic issues, and respond to citizens’ concerns. With 30+ report cards launched across Mumbai and Delhi, these insights empower voters, guide policymakers, and motivate representatives to strengthen their role in democratic governance.
By measuring leadership through data, Praja reinforces accountability where it matters most—between citizens and their representatives.

Municipal budgets shape a city’s priorities and infrastructure. They decide where money goes, and which wards and needs get attention first.
To help councillors understand this process, Praja Foundation held a capacity-building workshop in our Mumbai office for BMC councillors.
📊 Municipal Budgets, Budgetary Processes and Key Provisions Led by Mr. P. C. Pisolkar, Former Chief Auditor of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), this session explained how budgets are prepared and passed. It also covered the provisions councillors can use to track spending and raise ward-level priorities.
But a city’s resilience depends on more than the money. With Mumbai facing rising heat, councillors also need to understand the climate risks behind their decisions.
🌡️ Heat and Climate Sensitisation Conducted by the World Resources Institute (WRI) team, this session looked at how heat and climate challenges affect cities and residents, and why they must be built into local planning.
Together, the two sessions aimed to strengthen councillors’ understanding of municipal finances and climate risks, so that decisions for the city are better informed and more effective.
